Advantages: Great image quality, very adjustable Disadvantages: Subtle color-tracking errors in the grayscales, slightly wobbly
.... The monitor is slightly top-heavy, and the panel wobbles with even slight adjustments, though it won't tip over.
DVD playback looks better than average, which i partially attribute to the 1707FP's quick, 8-millisecond pixel-response rate. I saw less noise in backgrounds than we usually see on LCDs, and the 1707FP's colours, including flesh tones, looks accurate and vivid. Gaming tests were equally impressive, with vibrant color and no noticeable image irregularities.
Tested at its 1,280x1,024 native resolution, the Dell UltraSharp 1707FP delivered an excellent performance on CNET Labs' DisplayMate-based tests,(the test results were aqquired from the internet). The 1707FP's color scales are nearly flawless, with bright, vivid colors throughout the spectrum and just a small amount of compression at the dark end of the scale. The 1707FP's text...

Advantages: Simple to use, Analog/Digital Input Disadvantages: Large Base, Large surround plastic, Very limited maneuverability
...of the image. Most of these are disabled when using the Digital input as they are not necessary, but with minimal tuning no matter which mode you are utilising you can get bright colours, and sharp details. High contrast text (e.g. black on white, or vice-versa) appears crisp with no bleeding and through all the test patterns I've run through it, the contrast on the whole range of colour hues is excellent. Photos will appear full and vibrant, especially when using the digital input mode.
The redraw rate, at 25ms, is fast enough to be suitable for all but the most hardcore gamers, and the viewing angle is such that you could have 3 people sat side by side all comfortably able to view the same screen, if you so wanted! (Though in practice I found a realistic viewing angle to be about 130 degrees, rather than the factory quoted 170...

Advantages: Space saving design solution Disadvantages: None
...The Dell Ultrasharp 1703FP shares the same excellent design characteristics as it's 19" counterpart, the Ultrasharp 1901FP. As is the case with the larger model, the screen orientation can be easily changed by way of tilting, swivelling and rotating to achieve the maximum in user comfort. The height extension is superior to many LCD monitors, reaching to around 5” and, to prevent the stand from becoming stretched when the screen is lifted, a vertical extension lock is fitted. The lean design of the monitor includes slanted edges at less than an inch in thickness, meaning there is little by way of unnecessary space being taken up by the unit.
The 1703FP has a USB 2.0 hub fitted, with a total of four downward ports; two located below at the rear of the monitor and two positioned on the side of the monitor for easy access for those...

I use this 19 inch monitor in my role of Project Manager. It is the first TFT I have been bought by the company as previously, all staff used the bulkier CRT models. First impressions are that the amount of desk space you save is vast more
