Doctor Who: Only Human.
Author - Gareth Roberts
Synopsis
The Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack pick up a temporal disturbance (or rather the Tardis does) so they head for home, where they arrive on modern-day Earth and find that somebody is interfering with time. So they set out to find the perpetrators. But what they find is, well. A Neanderthal Man. Who is twenty-eight thousand years out of his time.
So they set off on a trip back to the primeval dawn of humanity in order to solve the mystery.
There, in the past they find duplicitous humans who have travelled from the opposite ends of time, the far distant future.
Enough of the plot beginnings, Who and what is the Osterberg experiment? Will Rose marry a caveman? What are the evil Hy-Bractors up to and can they be stopped? (Well what do you think)? What lies behind they Grey door? (Not shaken Stevens that's for sure, maybe if it was a green door) Why has capt jack only a small part in this story? No pun intended.
If the intrepid trio fail to crack this conundrum all of human history will be changed
The story features:
The Doctor - Christopher Eccleston. Rose - Billie Piper. Captain Jack - John Barrowman. The Hy-Bractors - as themselves.
Opinions,
This is in the category of "Beach book", you can pick it up, put it down or fall asleep and next time you delve into the story there will be no problem picking up the thread.
Aimed at a readership of 6 to 60, the dialogue is clear, concise, uncontroversial and bland.
It's Dr Who so it's not meant to be brain stretching!
It's a fun read and you will enjoy it, if not remember it.
Greg.
