This is a typical Dr Who yarn and follows the Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack on yet another adventure. The Tardis picks up a temporal disturbance back on Earth. Once there they discover that time is being played with things are being brought forwards and something's sent backwards in time. The first thing they find or should that be the first someone is a Neanderthal Man! He has been brought forward 28,000 years. He is also quite smitten with Rose, will she marry him? Don't be surprised. They next discover the Osterberg experiment and soon they are all knee deep in advanced humans and fighting to solve the clues thinly left around and through time.
So they go back in time to where it all began. There the meet the evil Hy-Bractors and soon the Doctor is up to his old tricks. Whilst Captain (indestructible) Jack is using himself as bait. Rose meanwhile is about to open the grey door, she should leave it alone!
Will this adventure prove too much for the Doctor? Are you kidding? This is a typical Doctor Who paperback with great writing and the usual plot. The plot does actually move along quite quickly but all in all the book holds no surprises. It is just a beach book or a pick up and put down read. Not the greatest book you will ever read.
