' 'slaves', the Ood, possessing them and one of the crew members. It is up to the Doctor to save them, but can he do it?
I'd say the way this story unravelled is amazing! It didn't drag, and Possessed Toby was so freaky! The Greenscreen acting and computer graphics of the Beast scenes were phenomenal!
***LoveAndMonsters:
A group of people who have an interest in the Doctor form an organisation. This becomes a regular, warming meeting, until an obsessed man gets involved. But this is no ordinary man, and he has no ordinary obsession...!
When I first watched this episode, I didn't like it. I watched it for a second time, and I guess it was a little better. The fact that we don't see much of the Doctor or Rose is a bit draining, but the fact that it is different, and told in the point of view of somebody mortal, is thrilling.
***Fear ...
Advantages: makes you happy, wonderful acting Disadvantages: Only two episodes
INVASION
We go back to Christmas Eve - Earth with the new Doctor. Even companion Rose is unsure of who he is. Drained from Regenerating, the Doctor lies sleeping in Jackie's flat, but while he rests, trouble arises. The Sycorax (located in their ship above London) are controlling the people in the city, and all over the earth too. But as the Doctor is not there to save the day, the population of the world is in the hands of Rose and Jackie. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, but will the cake rise?
NEW EARTH
Rose and Doctor are reunited, and find themselves sniffing the sweet smell of the Applegrass on New Earth. But this is not just a flyby visit! No, the Doctor has been told to visit and old friend in the hospital. This building, run by Cat-Nuns, has a secret store room where they are breeding a new species - surely this can't be right ...
Advantages: Great stuff Disadvantages: None really
Now well into the second series of the revamped DoctorWho, we see the writers take a bit of a different tack with the plotlines. We have another double episode story with The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit, and then a foray into an episode where the Doctor and Rose are not greatly featured, with a band of other actors taking the top billing for the episode, in Love and Monsters. This is a welcome change from the norm.
The Impossible Planet
The Doctor and Rose are sucked out of the TARDIS and onto a spaceship, which they find out is being held in orbit around a black hole. The ship has a small crew of humans running it, and cannot explain why the black hole has not swallowed them up. The ship also has a horde of a slave race known as the Ood on board, controlled by the crew. They are drilling into the surface of the nearby ...
