My experience with Dolphin Bathrooms has been a nightmare. My bathroom was redesigned and fitted from 12-19 Feb 2002. To date I have got nowhere with the Customer Service Team, they are not interested, but I wont be giving up
They forgot to secure a pipe in the attic properly, so after a few weeks the complete contents of the tank cascaded into my daughters bedroom as the pipe to the tank burst, I have to replace the ceiling in the bedroom, redecorate, buy a new carpet and underlay, buy a new bed, bedding etc etc. IN ADDITION to this, the bathroom has been badly designed. When the shower is used, it runs down the bare plaster walls, and this is bubbling and disintegrating. The toilet and bathroom doors do not close properly after their fitter rehung them. The electrics kept shorting out, the sink and the bath do not match. They said I signed a satisfaction note, and agreed verbally that all was well. However they failed to realise that both of these events occurred on the 19th (The day the bathroom was finished), and I was told to wait for 24 hours to let the sealant go off before I used the shower. So they expect me to sign it off before I even used it. I gave them 25% of the cost on 23rd Jan 2002, and they said they wanted the balance on delivery, BUT THEY WOULD NOT CASH THIS CHEQUE UNTIL THE WORK WAS COMPLETED. The cheque cleared my account on 11th Feb, work commenced on 12th. One of their suggestions was for me to claim for the damages on my home insurance. I was promised a team of highly trained proffessionals, they sent ONE man who worked frantically and clearly was not of the calibre one would expect when you pay 7800 pounds for a new bathroom. After what seems hundreds of phone calls chasing, and letters ( They are so used to dealing with complaints even Solicitors letters do not phase them) they sent around an assessor who estimated the work at 1200 pounds, even though the two sets of estimates I have show this to be in excess of 5000 pounds, additionally they tried to coerse me into agreeing to this derisory figure. Look on the internet there are loads of people complaining about their bad service and workmanship.
My advice would be to look on the internet to check out anyone who you were considering. I think there is a web site that vets builders/plumbers etc and guarantees the work. I wish I had known this before I wasted nearly 8000 pounds.

sounds like you got a rogue fitter, dolphin have recently revamped their installer programme and now require fitters to complete a 2 day class and demonstrate their skills, credit where its due to dolphin for acknowledging the problem of bad fitters, and their efforts to rectify the situation .

Sounds like a nightmare, but needs to be in the buyer beware category for a higher rating.
