This is just a quick one from me really. I contacted Dolphin Bathrooms in January of this year after seeing their website, visiting one of their showrooms, and being generally very impressed with the appearance of their kit and their apparent professionalism.
A designer came out and designed me a bathroom to my specification which I was very pleased with on paper. The cost was considerably more than I wanted to pay but I was not really that concerned as the finance options brought it down considerably. Great so far...
The surveyor came out to see me 2 weeks later to take measurements and advised me that I would have to change a couple of things due to my water pressure and such like. Fine again...
I then waited 2 months. I heard nothing. I contacted them a few times and was passed from department to department. It seemed that my designer had been too late in submitting my application and the finance company they deal with (First National) needed new copies of my agreement as it was too old. She came out to see me to get them signed again. Not quite as good as I thought but no real problem....
Bear in mind I had by this point waited 10 weeks so far...
Eventually, in late April, my finance application was accepted and I received confirmation from First National throught the post. 2 more weeks passed and I was informed that my bathroom was ready and would be delivered in 4 weeks time. Ok....
That was 7 weeks ago. I now have a full bathroom suite in my lounge as I have no space to store it in my house elsewhere. I have had this stuff for 3 weeks now. When, I wondered, was it going to be fitted.
I had been given a tentative date of "this week" for my bathroom to be fitted. I have had no confirmation and have chased them, obviously. Apparently they have to wait for the fitter to finish his last job before he gets on with mine. This is despite the fact that I have now waited almost 5 months since ordering the bathroom! I still dont know when it is going to be fitted.
In short, I am paying over seven grand for this bathroom - I have had to wait 5 months and have had to put up with the suite being in my lounge for a month. I am very disappointed at Dolphin's lack of sense of urgency, and can only hope the finished product, if it ever gets done, will be worth both the time and money. I'll keep you posted.....
EDIT - Aug 2004
The bathroom is finished now and I am fairly happy with the end result. It doesnt look like six grand's worth of bathroom though, and all pipes etc have not been fully blocked in. I would still recommend that you use someone else as these people are overpriced, unhelpful and V E R Y S L O W !!
