This cartridge. This little yellow cartridge has given me hours and hours of pleasure. Hours and hours of time were spent pressing buttons on my Game Boy to defeat each level. To kill Kremlins. To ride rhinos, ostriches and frogs.

I helped Donkey Kong through the jungle. Over snowy mountains. Through dark caves and pyramids. I even helped him swim under water. And for what? So I could sit here 11 years later and say "Oh yes. I love that game. Pity I still haven't finished it". The fact is though, I don't care that 11 years have gone by since I received it along with my first Game Boy for my 7th birthday and still haven't finished it. I don't care that on eBay it's only worth around $5.50AU. This game has immense sentimental value to me. It represents my childhood. It is the first video game I ever received and I'm proud to say that I still have it. That it hasn't been lost over the years. I'm proud to say that I still play it.

Most of you though, are wondering what exactly it is. Sure, you've heard of Donkey Kong, played a few of the newer Donkey Kong games. But, most of you are younger than me. So I doubt you would have played it before. Let me fill you in.

Donkey Kong Land is a follow up to the game Donkey Kong Country which was released on the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System). This game, however, was released for the Game Boy in 1995.

The game has four worlds, each with 10 levels. These worlds are Gangplank Galleon Ahoy!, Kremlantis, Monkey Mountains and Chimpanzee Clouds and Big Ape City. And, after 11 years of having this game, I have only gotten up to Level Two on Monkey Mountains and Chimpanzee Clouds.

Usually, games released on the original Game Boy all had a grey colored cartridge. This game, however, was lucky enough to receive a special colored cartridge - banana yellow.

This game has excellent game play I believe. Despite it only being in black and white and over 10 years old. Some of the most challenging games ever are those made before color screens. This game is awesome. It made my childhood and I still play it today. If you ever get the chance to play it then do. And hey, it's only $5.50AU on eBay. Why wouldn't you buy it?

Good as far as it goes, but as below, you need more personal opinion on what's good and bad about the game; such as graphics, sound, lifespan and so on :) tom

Sorry for the rating but I felt the review could do with more opinion - could elaborate more on what you thought about the graphics, sound effects, whether it was easy to pick up and play etc.
