Jacqueline Wilson: Double Act and Bad Girls. In Double Act, Jacqueline Wilson brilliantly captures the pain and uncertainty that change can sometimes bring with it. This story of two little girls gradually realising that they have no real control over what is happening is both funny and poignant, but it is as the twins begin to accept that things will never be quite the same that Wilson shines, allowing her characters to grow and develop as individuals without ever losing sight of the bond that holds them together. Bad Girls deals lightly but sensitively with the terrible pain suffered by a 10-year-old girl when she becomes the victim of vicious bullying at school. When the over-protected, intelligent Mandy is cast out by her so called girl "friends" at school she takes up with trendy, cheerful, 14-year-old Tanya. Because Mandy reminds Tanya of her much-loved kid sister in care and because she too is lonely the two quickly become best friends. But Tanya's unhappy life has made her turn to petty crime and before long Mandy finds herself in deep waters. In both novels Jacqueline Wilson tackles difficult issues with sensitivity and humour. Her characters are real people who are growing, developing and learning to rise above the challenges and issues with which they are faced. (9 years upwards).

...JacquelineWilson is one of my favourite authors and this book (DoubleAct) is one of her best.
The two twins (Ruby and Garnet)lose their mother at a young age and the story tells you how they go through life writing things in their account book along the way.
Ruby and Garnet have slightly different personalities which combines very well with the whole story.
The drawings are fantastic and the story is so good that it is hard to put it down.
This is a gripping story for readers of any age and I would reccommend absolutley anyone to buy it....

Advantages: Excellent ; Good Plot Disadvantages: There is none
...This Book is excellent and is one of these books were you wish you had a twin.
All of Jacquelinewilsons books are excellent but this is one of my favourites, i never get bored of it even though i have probably read it about 15 times.
The two twins are called Garnet and ruby ; Ruby is Loud and adventurous where as garnet is quiet and very clever, Ther mother died when they were babies and in the story it is about them dealing with the fact that their father has met someone else, they also go to audition for the twins at st.clares and as you can guess, they get into a lot of trouble afterwards.
I Would Recommend doubleAct to anyone over the ages of 8 and i rate it 10/10*...
