Advantages: Friendly stafff,no mess left, beautiful conservatory Disadvantages: none I found
After finally deciding we wanted a conservatory we contacted several companies for a quote, Abbey windows were not the cheapest but we went with them because of the freindliness of the rep, He was not pushy or full of himself like some of them were.He explained everything fully in terms that we could understand he took into consideration everything we asked for and came up with a beautiful design just what we had envisaged. Abbey Windows are a small ... ...are FENSA registered and dont seem to advertise that much, most of their work comes from recommendation. We found all of the staff to be freindly and helpful and would go out of their way to answer any questions we had. The whole process took less than 8 weeks from ordering to completion. The base was built in 3 days and the builder was very polite and left no mess, we were kept advised at every stage of the conservatory. When it came time to fit ...

Advantages: Dining room, as good as an extension Disadvantages: not cheap
Vivaldi Conservatories carried out the installation of my conservatory, which we use as a dining room/lounge. It features a glass roof with a high technology coating that has got an amazing heat retention performance, so hopefully it will be warm enough to enjoy all year round. I did not spend the extra few hundred pounds to get Pilkington Activ self-cleaning glass, which is my only regret, as the roof seems to be a target for the local birds. We ... ...a laminate wooden floor. All the tradesmen who worked on the project were experience men, all in their forties, and they all seemed to take real pride in the project. The room has been a real benefit to us, giving us a substantial extension. The big selling point of this new glass is that the room is as good as a traditional extension, but still allows plenty of natural light in to the existing house. Vivaldi conservatories takes time at the initial ...

...I looked at various double glazing conservatories but finally decided on the Full Monty package because you got the tiles, blinds and fan for free. I can't remember all the details but they still have it on their website: http://www.streetlywindows.co.uk/ I first got an online quote and then went to the showroom to look at vairous options. This was in my opinion really good value for your money. The service was also very good and the people were ... ...when i couldn't make my mind up they had a lot of patience and gave me sound advice. We spend all our free time in our Conservatory and it is a lovely space that we use to relax and work. We even let the kids play there because we know it is secure and it protectedc against rain and UV-rays. You can't go wrong with a Conservatory from Streetly Windows ltd. ...

...me in touch with a double glazing fitter / builder who built our beautiful conservatory. We were unsure of what style of conservatory we wanted but the understanding people at grand designs told me that they only manufacturer conservatories to other companies, but, they would design our conservatory roof. After only 4 and a half weeks later we are now enjoying our wonderful conservatory and now spend most of our time in there! Once again i would ...

Advantages: look elsewhere Disadvantages: Dodgy sales tactics. Look at others before smart energy
Got a leaflet in the mail. Advertises discounts .. for the right people.
You get a marketing reference number which you must give to the sales person that visits your home { should set alarm bells ringing}.
Will only make their pitch if both you and your partner are present.
Will not discuss price or discounts UNTIL you've been through their sales pitch .. then you'll find its very expensive. Lots of excuses were made as to why they couldn't provide indicative pricing saying its all very complex and would take a full survey. Other vendors I've dealt with are far more open and will give you a ball park figure .. solar water heating is not rocket science! The technology they offer is bog standard .. nothing unique. You pay for their big overheads.
Sales process is similar to what we went through with doubleglazing / conservatory ...
Advantages: State of the art PRESENTATION Disadvantages: NONE
With the need for extra space we looked at different options, extenstions and conservatorys due to costs and time scales we decided on a conservatory. What size what styles and the most difficult what company.
This was the most distressing part of all the decisions to be made, a mind field of companies. We arranged a visit from a company out of the local paper two and half hours later pressure pressure you must have it now or you loose the deal. The pressure was not the problem i could not visulize our conservatory on the back of our property, pictures didn't do the job for us.We then were contacted by lancashire doubleglazing offering a free 1 hour consultation, they explained how they style and design all their conservatories on a lap top with 3d pictures with the facility to super impose it onto the house. I agreed to the hour, best ...
Advantages: Local, small company, personal service Disadvantages: May be limited to fitting dates
Why is it that you spend more time considering which car to buy than a house?
It's a bit of a surprise to you when you look at the windows in your new home properly and find you can see daylight through the gaps, and when you accidentally drop a screwdriver it sinks a couple of inches into the rotten frames. After a few choice words we realised that dramatic steps would have to be taken. WE NEEDED DOUBLEGLAZING!!!
The other odd thing is that for months and months we had been receiving nuisance calls asking whether we wanted DoubleGlazing, a Conservatory or Fascias or Soffets - you probably get them all the time too. However, they all dissappeared into the so called woodwork and we haven't heard from them at all.
We resorted to asking people who we worked with - a staff noticeboard with over 1500 people looking at it is a good ...
