Oh for the wings of a dove - and armpits too

Advantages works, last a long time, good value for money
Disadvantages packaging doesn't give much detail
“Oh, for the wings, for the wings of a Dove”………….oh sorry just getting a bit carried away there. I’m supposed to be sitting here and telling you all about Dove Deodorant and started singing happily to myself about how good it is!
After having used non-perfumed deodorants for over a year, because of the reaction my son had to them when I was breastfeeding, I decided to buy myself a new spray deo. That was great until I discovered that he STILL reacted to it even though I wasn’t breastfeeding anymore. A quick trip to Tesco was required - urgently - and I didn’t have much money on me at the time. Having been using the Secret brand previously I felt like a change. I wanted another stick, as I found they last longer and therefore are better value for money, but it needed to be non-perfumed and reasonably priced.Scanning my eyes along the shelves I spotted a small white stick priced at £1.99. It was Dove Deodorant Stick (40ml). It had a dark blue lid and the writing on the label was all in Blue – with the characteristic Dove symbol also on the label. A quick check on the back of the tub informed me that it contains the following ingredients:
CyclomethiconeOther than that the label didn’t really tell me much else other than the fact that it was ¼ moisturising cream (in several different languages) and on the lid it stated, “Softens your skin”. Actually I lied! I’ve just discovered on VERY close inspection that the label on the back has a little arrow and the words “Open here”. On peeling it open (a very difficult task even for nimble fingers – I doubt whether an older or disabled person would manage it) I discovered a warning in about 15 different languages. It stated (obviously for some – but not for others) that this product shouldn’t be applied to damaged or irritated skin. I’m afraid that the packaging doesn’t score very highly in my books.
So that packaging isn't very good – but I suppose the most important factor in a product like deodorant is whether or not it works. Well, after taking off the lid and removing the hygienic plastic cover (if it’s not there take it back to the shop) I discovered that it has a very pleasant smell. Actually it doesn’t really smell of anything, it’s just a nice, clean, fresh smell – something I’d like to think I smell like. To move the stick of deodorant up so that it can be used you have to twist the bottom of the container in an anti-clockwise direction. Once this is done a couple of strokes under the arms is all that is required to apply it.A quick peek in the mirror showed me that once applied the white cream doesn’t show up under your armpits – so if (unlike me) you like to wear tops that allow people to see your armpits (should you raise your arms) you can rest assured that they won’t see the snowy mountains. Equally, after testing several dark coloured tops, I can also assure you that you won’t have any unsightly white marks left on your treasured Gucci top.

Hmm although I like my current Nivea deodrant, I think I can see the benefits of this one ( the one I used to use)....
