Whilst I try to take care of my hair, it can be a neverending task as it's long, curly, dry and impossible to control! As a result I tend not to be brand-loyal when it comes to conditioner and find myself trying lots of them, looking for "the one" that will work wonders with my unmanageable hair!

I spotted this Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair conditioner when I was doing our weekly shop and as it was on special offer at only £1 for the 200ml bottle decided to give it a try. I already had a huge stash of shampoos so didn't invest in the matching set, just settling for the conditioner.

The conditioner comes in a white upside down bottle in that it stands on it's lid (flip top, hurrah, much less messy than screw top!) and has the usual blue Dove branding. There is a big statement claiming it will give you 5 x less split ends on the front and on the back claims to work on your hair from the inside to the outside to combat these split ends.

I use the conditioner after two shampoos; first a special one to combat psoriasis and then whichever happens to be on the bathroom shelf, usually one for damaged or curly hair. It's easy to use, simply squeezing the required amount (usually about a 50p piece blob for my long hair) out of the bottom of the bottle.

The conditioner, when it comes out, is thick and creamy and smells delish! I can't put my finger on an exact fragrance but to me it smells like walking into a Lush shop...quite fruity and zingy, not a berryfruit, more citrussy but without the tang, if that makes any sense. In any case, I really love the smell of it. As it is a good thickness for a cream it is easy to apply through my hair without any slopping off onto my shoulders or into the bath tub, then I simply comb through with a wide toothed comb and leave it on for a few minutes.

It rinses out very easily and doesn't leave any nasty residue in my hair, although it does make our bath quite slippy at first, but this is our own fault for not using a shower mat, nothing to do with the conditioner whatsoever!

After using it I can immediately feel the difference in my hair, it feels silkier and smoother (quite a claim for coarse, dry, curly hair!) and it is much easier to get my tangle teaser through it. As my hair is curly I never brush it and don't even comb it on a daily basis, only when it's been washed, and after using this shampoo for a month or so now I can tell the difference as my hair doesn't feel quite so matted together between washes.

Whilst I don't tend to do much to my hair on a daily basis apart from scrape it back and tie it in a ponytail, I do like to straighten it every now and then and when I've worn it straight since starting with this bottle it has felt a lot softer and silkier.

I don't really know if I have split ends or not, I assume I do as I'm not particularly gentle with my hair, but as my hair is always tied back I never really take much notice. So I can't comment on whether the claims Dove make about 5 x less split ends being true or not. But what I can tell you is that since using this conditioner I have definitely noticed a marked improvement in the condition of my hair which has really impressed me and means I'll be likely to repurchase this when I run out. In fact, Tesco has it on offer at the moment so I'll probably be re-stocking this week. Although the usual price of £2.44 is also good value I think and I would more than likely buy it at full price too, if I couldn't find it on offer anywhere.
