BACKGROUND INFORMATION

A SOAP OR SOMETHING MORE...?
The first thing you discover from looking at the packaging is that this is no ordinary soap. It actually contains 1/4 moisturising cream, which presumably makes it less likely to dry your skin. Dove Cream Bar also claims to be mild and pH neutral, i.e. not too acidic or alkaline.
When it comes to soap, I can't say I'm fussy. I will tend to use whatever happens to be in the bathroom at the time, and up until now, have had no real preference towards one particular brand. But that was until my mum bought a pack of Dove Cream Bar soap...I can now confidently say that I am a convert to the Dove brand.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Dove soap is made in Germany by Unilever. The Dove range is actually quite extensive and, in addition to soap, you can buy other bathroom products such as cream bath, conditioner, body wash, handwash and deodorants.
PACKAGING
Each soap bar comes in its own individual box. This is predominantly white and has the 'Dove' name printed across the front face in navy blue italic writing. Underneath this are the words, 'Cream Bar', also in navy blue writing, and a picture of a golden dove embossed onto the box.
APPEARANCE
Unlike most soap bars, which are long and cuboid in shape, Dove is quite unusual - even unique - in that it is oval-shaped. Because of this, it is perhaps slightly smaller than a standard-sized bar of soap, but not by much. It measures approximately 8cm in length, 6cm in width and 2cm in depth. The bar itself is pure white in colour and has the 'Dove' name and emblem are etched into the surface of the soap. The surface is also quite curvy all over.
SMELL
Most of the soaps I have tried in the past have had been relatively odourless. Some have even smelt quite repulsive! But because it is a soap, you don't necessarily expect it to smell nice. As long as it cleans and does its job, who really cares what it smells like? Well that was what I thought before trying Dove... I now think that smell is equally as important as any other factor.
With Dove Cream Bar, the smell hits you straight away. It is a strong, perfumey smell, with hints of vanilla and citrus fruits. It is a fresh smell and I personally find it very pleasant and not too overpowering. It is, however, a lot more fragrant than many other soaps, and because of this, could be seen as slightly 'girly'. It takes more than this to put me off though!
IS IT SENSITIVE ON SKIN?
When using the soap, I noticed that it quickly lathers up into a milky, bubbly froth. Of course, it cleanses, like any other soap, but I also found it to be very gentle and mild on my skin, and it didn't cause me any irritation whatsoever, even when used over my whole body. Some soaps leave your skin feeling dry immediately after use, but Dove moisturises and hydrates skin so that it is left feeling soft and fresh for longer.
PRICES
Because it contains moisturiser, the soap is slightly more lavish than a basic, everyday soap. However, it is still good value for money and doesn't cost as much as you might think. The following prices are taken from the Tesco Price Check website:
Dove 100g Bar = 48p (Tesco, Asda, Morrisons) Dove Soap 2 x 100g = 88p (all major supermarkets) Dove Soap 4 x 100g = £1.58 (all major supermarkets) Dove Soap Extra Sensitive 2x 100g = 98p (Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda)
Prices are correct as at 5th March 2006.
WHAT I THINK…
Overall, I think Dove Cream Bar is an excellent soap. Even though bars may not last quite as long, it is the quality of the soap that really matters and it is in this area that Dove excels. I would make a concerted effort to buy it again and recommend you try it - if you haven't already done so!

...of seeing the adverts for Dove and their miraculous claims, I thought I'd give it a try as my hands have started to go a bit dry lately and the fruity vegetable oil soaps I used to use weren't helping.
Dove soap is pure white in colour, very soft in texture and has a gorgeous flowery, powdery smell that isn't overpowering. You can also get a sensitive version with hardly any perfume at all. It's a very appealing shape, a sort of bendy ovoid (!) ... ...the Krypton Factor boffins.
Dove is one quarter moisturising cream and three quarters soap, and it does indeed make a noticeable difference to your skin after just a couple of days. By the end of the week, my hands were looking not dry at all and they felt soft and velvety. To quote the adverts, 'it was as though I'd used a moisturiser'.
On its moisturising performance, I can't fault Dove at all.
The problem with Dove is because of all that moisturiser, ...

...have extolled the virtues of Dove deodorants, both roll on and spray, and the moisturising body wash but there is one more product in the Dove range that I love and that’s Dove soap!
To call it by its correct name it is actually Dove Cream Bar, but its a soap to the likes of you and me, albeit a luxurious soap.
Lever Faberge of London distributes the Dove range, which is actually made in Germany, and there is a freepost address on each product ... ...Dove Cream Bar like all the other Dove products in one quarter moisturising cream, and you can really tell! The soap produces a lot of thick, creamy lather with a lovely fresh smell. How many times have you had some daft little bar of soap that keeps getting lost in the bath water or, even worse, shooting out of your ...

Advantages: Soft, creamy and moisturising Disadvantages: A bit messy!
Dove soap has been a favourite of mine for quite a few years now, and has been around longer than many people think. Recently the Dove phenomenon has reached new levels as shower gel, moisturiser and hair products have also been added to its impressive collection of beauty products. That said, Dove soap is the original grandfather of them all and rightly so!
The white oval shaped bar is said to contain ¼ moisturising cream, which is in contrast ... ...white and embossed with the Dove logo on both sides and it is approximately 8cm in length. According to the white and blue box the soap comes it, Dove soap is mild and pH neutral, which indicates that the soap is kind to the skin and does not dry it out. Science was never my strong point at school, and the advertisement for this product shows the soap being submitted to a litmus test to determine its acidity rating. Way over my head I’m afraid, but ...

Advantages: Keeps you fresh and dry all day, smells nice Disadvantages: none
I have always used Sure Deodorant, but after reading many opinion's on Ciao on Dove deodorant, I decided to try DoveMoisturisingCream anti-perspirant deodorant for myself.
The deodorant is made by Faberge and comes in a 150ml can. It is white with a blue lid. There is also a picture of a dove, but it is nothing eye catching to look at though. It's just a plain and simple deodorant can.
The deodorant smells nice and fresh, and the smell lasts all day.
Before use, you should shake the can and spray 15cm's away from your underams. This will keep you fresh all day whatever you are doing.
It contains moisturisingcream, which makes your skin feel nice and soft.
The ingredients in this deodorant are as follows:-
Butane
Isobutane
Propane
Cyclomethicone
Aluminium Chlorohydrate
Parfum
PPG-14 Butyl Ether
Octyldodecanol ...
Advantages: Good for sensitive skin, smells lovely, Disadvantages: white marks if not careful
Being a bit of a sprayaholic I have tried most anti-perspirants and deoderants on the market, this has to be my fav yet.
The Dove anti-perspirant spray comes in a slim white bottle and is now available in 2 different scents. I still like the original one so this is the one I shall be reviewing. It has a deep blue lid and the writting is in the same blue colour. On the bottle it states that it is a member of the Dove deodordant family and provides 24 hr protection with 0% alcohol.
As with all Dove products it contains 1/4 moisturisingcream. On the reverse of the bottle it informs you that you should "shake well. Hold can 15cms from the underarm and spray". Now I am sure we all know how to apply anti-perspirant but the instructions start to make sense if you ever happen to spray it when less than 15cms from body.
I have very ...
says it contains one quater moisturisingcream. It's alcohol free and dermatologically tested. On the back of the can are the directions, ingredients, a caution message about what not to put it near spray it near, and that it is extremely flammable.
Right, now onto the spray in question. To use it, shake the can well, hold it 15cm away from the armpit and spray. But, what about the smell? I found this to be a very fresh and vibrant aroma. It reminds me of a summers day walking through the countryside, and a smell of the wild flowers. It's a very simplistic smell. It puts me in mind of white lilies on a pond!
When you are spraying this onto your skin, I didn't think it felt as cold as some do when it sprays on to you. It felt soft going on, and rather warm.
I was pleased with the effects of this deodorant. The smell was ...
