Advantages great value, smells great, gentle, leaves skin soft and smooth

Disadvantages nothing

I never normally purchase bars of soap as I always consider them as quite an old fashioned thing. But my mum recommended Dove soap to me as she has used it for sometime and said that it is gentle on her skin. I thought it would be worth a try so had a look for it the next time I went shopping.

I purchased a two bar pack of the dove cream bar soaps from Tesco for £1.00.

The soaps weigh 100g each and come packed in individual boxes which are wrapped in a pearlescent plastic wrapper. On the front of the pack there is the dove logo of a gold dove. It also states that the soap contains 1/4 moisturising cream. On the back and side of the wrapper you can find all the information you need to know about the soap including ingredients listings and company contact details. There is no directions for use so I presume that they presume that you know how a bar of soap works.

As soon as you open the plastic wrapper to remove the individual boxes you can smell the soap. The smell is rather strong but very pleasant, a little like baby powder. The bars themselves are white in colour and have the dove logo printed on the top of the bar. The bar is a curved shape which makes it easy to hold in your hand and even when wet it is not overly slippery.

I have been using this soap as an alternative to shower gel, I get quite dry skin at times and thought with the added moisturising cream it would be worth trying to see if I noticed a difference. I always use a body puff so I simply wet this and then rub the soap over it. You only need a small amount to gain a good lather meaning that one bar does last quite some time. I find that the soap feels soft and silky on my skin and when I get out of the bath or shower and get dry that my skin feels smooth and not any way dry. Since using this soap I have experienced no adverse reaction and have found it to work really well. One thing that I have found it brilliant for is shaving my legs as it lathers really well and seems to reduce the normal irritation and dryness I get on my legs after shaving. Also although this soap is quite strongly scented after I have used it on my skin I can still smell the fragrance but it is more subtle so does not clash with anything else I use such as perfume.

Overall I think this is a fantastic soapand much higher quality than I remember most soaps to be when I was younger. Soap can be a little more messy than a shower gel but I keep mine in a small soap dish and find that the bar holds together perfectly well. It has certainly impressed me and kept my skin feeling soft and smooth and looking healthy. This is certainly a soap that I will repurchase and recommend to others.
