Advantages: It smells lovely and the packaging is attractive Disadvantages: Dries out the ends and greases up the roots!
...When I think of Dove as a brand I think of quality products, which are strongly perfumed, and packaged in simple, functional containers. Therefore, although I’d not heard any personal opinions on this product (and I neglected to check Ciao – cardinal sin!) I went out and handed over around £2.50 for the Moisturising Milk Shampoo for coloured hair.
And now, so that we all know where I’m coming from here’s a little ... ...functional, uncluttered, with the distinctive Dove symbol on the front.
Thumbs up!
The SMELL
The same heavily perfumed/soupy smell that can be expected from all Dove products, from their deodorants to their body washes. In my opinion, it’s a very clean smell and I do like it, but I am not sure how gentle such a perfumed product would be for people who have sensitive skin.
Thumbs up!
A “moisturising milk shampoo” sounds quite exotic, eh? We’ve heard the stories from centuries of yore of the noblewomen bathing in milk so that their skin would be creamy and soft. There’s something about it which sounds very exotic.
I had seen a few advertisements for this shampoo in the past few weeks. When I think of Dove as a brand I think of quality products, which are strongly perfumed, and packaged in simple, functional containers. Therefore, although I’d not heard any personal opinions on this product (and I neglected to check Ciao – cardinal sin!) I went out and handed over around £2.50 for the Moisturising Milk Shampoo for coloured hair.
And now, so that we all know where I’m coming from here’s a little summary.
What I have to work with… ------------------------- Wavy, thick, highlighted hair, subject to dryness and frizziness.
Now I understand there’s more than a shampoo required for the above ideal. I also have the bathroom cabinet full of serums, conditioners, detanglers, anti-frizz products, etc. but I find a real difference in the manageability of my hair depending on the shampoo used.
So, how did Dove’s Moisturising Shampoo measure up?
The PACKAGING
The container is about 8 inches high and 3 inches wide. It tapers slightly from the base to the top. The container is white and the cap is blue. It looks plain, simple, functional, uncluttered, with the distinctive Dove symbol on the front. Thumbs up!
The SMELL
The same heavily perfumed/soupy smell that can be expected from all Dove products, from their deodorants to their body washes. In my opinion, it’s a very clean smell and I do like it, but I am not sure how gentle such a perfumed product would be for people who have sensitive skin. Thumbs up!
The COLOUR and the TEXTURE
The shampoo is a pure white cream that flows out very easily – be prepared, it is easy to pour out too much. It feels very silky and combined with the smell it really does feel like you’re about to treat yourself. Thumbs up!
The EASE of USE and the EFFECT – the RESULT!
Now we're at the really important bit. Pour a little into your hand, wipe them once together and then apply to your wet hair. A little goes a very long way, in fact, I find even the smallest amount creates a substantial lather. Personally, I prefer my shampoos not to lather up to this degree, it seems to take AGES to rinse it out and my hair seems to almost stick together from it. This means that as I’m running my fingers through my hair to make sure I’m not leaving a residue, my fingers are tangling in my hair and it is very frustrating. Once I have applied the conditioner, done the final rinse and applied the anti-frizz products it’s time to get down to blow-drying my hair. I am very disappointed with the results…my hair is now less dry – but only along the roots, leading to a slightly greasy looking effect a few hours after washing my hair, which doesn't leave me feeling like my hair has been properly cleaned. And the ends are a disaster – dry and flyaway, I look like someone who’s been a bit too enthusiastic with ironing the ends of my hair! So, as a result of all this my hair has spent the majority of the last month (the test period) tied back in a ponytail. Big Thumbs Down!!
So, to summarise – if you have hair as I described mine above then save your money on this. But don’t save your comments – all hints and tips as to the best tried-and-tested shampoos greatly appreciated! I have now gone and bought the Timotei Shampoo for coloured hair so fingers crossed I notice an improvement!!
...of the market but until Dove came along, I had been unable to find anything of any real use to my hair. Many an evening I have been about to go out and have been held up because my hair just isn't doing what it is told. I even got to the point where I had my hair cut really, really short (I don't like short hair personally but I felt I had got my own back on my hair for the years of stress it had caused me, ha ha!!)
The solution

I ... ...other advantage is that the Dove range also includes Dove Body Silk moisturiser, Dove soaps (both perfumed and sensitive) Dove Body Wash and Indulging Cream Bath (amongst others) so you can use the whole range without mixing the Dove fragrance with the frangrances of other products.
I am going to stick with this shampoo now (and seek out the conditioner) and recommend this to my friends and family. I would also recommend this to anyone who, like ...

Advantages: It's good value for money Disadvantages: None really
...of you that read my Dove Cleansing Bar review the other day, you will know that I am a great fan of the whole range they produce. I have since come to learn that a staggering 7.2 million women use at least one Dove product every week!
Interesting facts aside, today I am going to focus my attention on the Dove Shampoo. The shampoo I use is the one for Dry & Damaged hair, however there are various other shampoos within the range for Normal, Coloured ... ...white container, with the usual Dove logo. The description on the front of the bottle pertaining to which particular hair type you are buying for, is written in easily identifiable differing colours. The writing on this particular bottle is in orange.
The shape of the container is somewhat unusual in that it tapers in towards the top and is topped off with a blue cap. The front of the bottle states that it is 'moisturising milk shampoo' with 1/4 ...

Advantages: soft, shiny, hair that feels great Disadvantages: at first it can be a little bit too soft but it is soon falling into place
...Then I saw that Dove had brought out a shampoo. We all know that Dove is famous for its soap with 1/4 moisturiser. They have gone into all areas now, including body wash, deodorants, cleansing wipes and conditioner to name a few.I receieved a free sample of this shampoo in a magazine, so gave it a try. Lets just say, on my next shopping trip there was a bottle of this product going home with me.
It comes in a white bottle with a dark blue flip top ... ...hair doesnt dehydrate. Thats were Dove comes in. Our hair actually bleeds aswell when it is being cut.
The scent is a soapy one. It is mild on your hair, so it isnt a strong scent for your hair but you can faintly smell it on application. If you are looking for a shampoo that is going to but a fragrance on your hair then this isnt it. However if you are looking for softness then it is.
When I applied this I found that from a small blob I could ...

...‘Dove’ and almost always use Dove deodorant, but I had never tried the shampoo and conditioner.
I had read a few good opinions here on Ciao so I decided to ask Father Christmas if he might find some for me and, as usual, he came up trumps!
I have now used the shampoo twice (I did have some to finish – I haven’t only washed my hair twice since Christmas!) so I thought I’d better tell you what I think about it.
The Packaging
The shampoo comes in ... ...has the by now familiar Dove colouring of plain white with blue lettering and it has a blue flip top. So the container is easy to hold, an important thing if you intend using it in the shower, and the shampoo is easy to get at – a quick squeeze and there you are! (There’s no answer to that is there?)
The Shampoo
As I opened the top of the container I could smell the familiar fragrance that I have come to associate with Dove, and I love it! The ...

...thought I would try the Dove Shampoo to see what is was like.
It comes in a 250ml white bottle, with a blue flip lid. There is a picture of a dove on the front of the bottle above the word Dove. It is not an eye catching bottle to look at, as it is just plain and simple really.
It smells nice and you can smell the shampoo for quite a while once you have washed your hair. It smells like most of the Dove products actually, which is kind of fruity ... ...overpowering smell either.
To use this shampoo wet your hair, lather shampoo in to your hair, rinse off and repeat if necessary. I only ever do it once as that is all that is needed and I have quite long hair really. I only use the size of about a 50p coin everytime I wash my hair, as it lathers up really well.
The ingredients in this shampoo are Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium C12-13 Pareth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betane, Glycol Distearate, ...

Advantages: Clean and fresh hair, simple prodcut that de-tangles hair. Disadvantages: Gave me a dry scalp and weighed my hair down
.
After browsing thought boots the chemist I found this DoveShampoo and Conditioner (2in1) on offer for 99p. What a bargain! Plus it advertises itself as being a part of Doves protect and repair range, with this particular product being called their 'Daily Therapy 2in1'. It claims to be an all in one essential cleaning and protecting shampoo. As I wash my hair almost every day this seemed like it might be a perfect solution to save me a little time but still look after my hair.
In terms of using it, the liquid itself is a creamy pearlescent colour, quite thick and very rich. It smells fresh and clean, there is no pretty fragrance for me to describe. Just a simple fresh and salubrious scent. It lathered up well into soft soapy foam and as the liquid is quite thick you don't need very much. It rinsed out well and worked as I expected it to ...
Advantages: Good price, smells great, makes your hair feel healthy and soft Disadvantages: None.
I love Doveshampoo and conditioners and have been using them for the past few years. They always leave my hair feeling really soft and beautiful, even though I've damaged it a lot with years of home dye kits.
The Packaging
The shampoo is in a really nice white bottle, with blue writing. It comes with a flip top cap, making it easy to pour out some of the liquid inside. On the back of the bottle there is a 'diagnosis' which is 'normal, naturally balanced hair exposed to daily environmental aggressions'. It also has the usual ingredients and contact details for Unilever, the people behind Dove and many other products you would find in your home.

Advantages: does what it is for, good texture Disadvantages: pine smell, using conditioner is absolutely necessary
Since I don?t colour my hair so regularly (as the Clariol Nice?n?Easy lasts long) my hair is greasy every second day. I spent a lot of money on different shampoos when finally I bought Sainsbury?s basics shampoo.
Price and package
------------------------
This basics shampoo comes in a slightly transparent white plastic bottle. It contains 1 litre of shampoo and costs only 0.26 pounds. I think it is as cheap as possible. I bought it just because I hoped to get a very basic shampoo without any moisturising ingredients that makes my hair really dry.
The shampoo
-----------------
The shampoo is peach coloured and has pine smell. Well it is quite strange at first but you can get used to it. I have to use a little bit more then my usual Pantene Pro V or Doveshampoos. It foams very well. The texture of the shampoo is smooth and it ...
