This soap was aimed at people for dry and sensitive skin, and in 1970 was tested by dermatologists which proved it was milder than 17 of the leading soaps at the time.
Dove came to the UK 12 years ago and became famous for its bath time products and body washes. In 2000 dove started branching out into to deodorants, hair care and body moisturisers, in 2004 came the firming range (and not a moment to soon for me anyway!) Dove ... more
I really enjoy trying new and different products and must admit most of them have turned out to be good buys but the one thing I never thought I would change was my hand cream, you see I always used the body shop’s Hemp but a few months ago I started to notice that it seemed different and not so effective. So I started to look around for a different one, after a bit of a disaster with a Nivea cream I decided to go for a brand that I have never had any problems with; dove. The only problem left was which one to choose, I mean dove has expanded its range now and has much more to choose from so I chose this particular hand cream because it is to be used at night which suits me better.
HISTORY ---------------
Dove is a Unilever product and was first launched in America in the 1950’s it started with the cleansing bar that was actually developed to treat burn victims during the war. It wasn’t released as a beauty bar until 1957 when it was reformulated and renamed the “Original Dove Beauty bar”. This soap was aimed at people for dry and sensitive skin, and in 1970 was tested by dermatologists which proved it was milder than 17 of the leading soaps at the time. Dove came to the UK 12 years ago and became famous for its bath time products and body washes. In 2000 dove started branching out into to deodorants, hair care and body moisturisers, in 2004 came the firming range (and not a moment to soon for me anyway!) Dove is now running the campaign for real beauty, let’s be honest you must have been living on the moon if you haven’t seen the adverts basically they are using real women of all shapes and sizes for their advertising instead of stick thin models.
Stress and daytime challenges can compromise hands beauty. So during the night the skin needs help to strengthen its moisture barrier and renew it’s natural beauty. That’s why dove has created this hand cream that actually helps renew your skin at night while its calming scent comforts your soul.
PRODUCT ------------------
This actually looks quite smart; the tube is navy in colour with the usual flip top lid that the tube stands up on. At the top of the tube you have the familiar dove logo complete with gold dove! Then the name and some stars at the bottom it states that it is night care with vitamin F. On the back it states that this product has micro-pearls containing vitamin F and intensive moisturisers to aid intensive night regeneration of your hands and nails. This is supposed to strengthen the skin barrier, improve firmness for the skin, hands regain their natural beauty, wake up to softer smoother hands and it is instantly absorbed.
USING -------------
To start with I did feel that this tube wouldn’t last long as it is only 75ml and I do like to use a lot at a time, by the time I started using this my hands were in a bad condition I had reacted very badly to the nivea cream I had used and my knuckles had split and looked like I had been in a fight also my nails had gone very soft and were splitting so basically I had the hands of a 80 year old (well most days I feel about that anyway!) When i first used the cream I was waiting for that familiar Dove smell but this cream smells nothing like the usual Dove products in fact it smells more like a sun cream, the smell is very light and pleasant. The cream is white in colour with tiny blue beads, to be honest that is the first time I have noticed the blue beads but in my defence I use this at night before I go to bed and by that time I wouldn’t notice if it was green with pink spots! The cream itself is very light in texture and absorbs very well it is not as thick as most creams but not as runny as a lotion, and spreads over the hands very well so you don’t have to use a lot at a time. It doesn’t feel greasy or make my hands feel sticky and once it has absorbed my hands felt softer straight away. In the morning my hands still felt soft but the real test was during the day because let’s be honest you don’t use your hands much when you are asleep (well I don’t!) After a few days I noticed my hands were in looking much better shape they were softer, my nails were not splitting and no more split knuckles. So have my hands been regenerated? Well I’m a bit disappointed my hands don’t look years younger but at least they now look my age and not that of an 80 year old!
VITAMIN F -----------------
As I was writing this I suddenly thought about the fact I had never heard of vitamin f so here is a few bits I have found out on-line. Basically vitamin F is a essential fatty acid that is made up of 2 fatty acids, linoleic acid and alpha- linoleic acid the common name to you and me would be omega-3 & 6. For the skin it is good for helping you have a more youthful appearance (I’m getting a bucket load as I write this!) and helps make the skin suppler. These fatty acids are found in evening primrose oil, grape seed oil, flaxseed oil, and oils of grains, nuts and seeds, such as soybean, walnuts, sesame, and sunflower. Also present in avocados, as well as meat and fish like salmon, trout, mackerel and tuna.
This product also has a long list of ingredients with the usual load of unreadable names, the best website to check these out would be the Unilever one and a added bonus you can just click on the ingredient and it will tell you exactly what it is.
RANGE & PRICE --------------------------
Regenerating night body lotion 250ml… £4.49 Regenerating hand cream 75ml…£2.09
So the big question would I buy this again? Yes I really do like this one and as I have had a bad time with hand creams in the past I am now happy to find one that really does work. The tube has lasted a while and I don’t feel the need to use a lot at a time and hopefully if I keep using it my hands will start to look younger, well here’s hoping anyway!
Advantages: It really works, it's non-greasy, the aroma is pleasant, it's a handy size :) Disadvantages: I can't fault this product
...bit of a fan of Dove handcreams and use handcream all throughout the day, but I have to be honest, I never thought about using one in the evening until I found Dove's regenerating night cream which claims to renew your skin overnight with 24 hr nourishing moisture. Dove is a Unilever brand. Unilever was first established in the 1930 and is now a big part of daily life for most people. It is one of the most successful consumer goods companies across ... ...Home care and personal care. Dove obviously falls into the personal care category alongside other popular brands such as nivea, impulse, sure, pond's and others. Dove was first launched in the United states in the 1950's and started with the Dove cleansing bar but did not break into the UK market until the 1990's and we now use skin care products such as handcreams, bathing products such as moisturising body washes, deoderants and haircare products. ...

...cream as part of a Dove gift set at Christmas time last year (2006). The set was for nighttime products, and this cream is designed to help your skin with it's nightly regenerating process although I just use it whenever I need to.
It comes in a very soft plastic tube with a curved top and the lid on the bottom. It stands on top of this flat lid which has a flap. It's dark blue in colour with the logo at the top and the product title below that ... ...similar to that of the Dove hand balm intended for daytime use. It isn't an overpowering smell so if you do use it at nighttime it won't annoy you while you try to sleep. The texture is light and easy to apply but it's a also rich so you don't need to use a lot. If you do put on too much you'll find it takes ages to absorb properly, so it's best to start with just a little then you can build it up if you need more of it. The best way to get it to ...

Advantages: easily absorbed, good price Disadvantages: none so far
Was bought this as a present, never really used to use handcream but because i work in a childrens shoe shop, i tend to get quite dry skin on my hands.
I dont generally like using hand creams during the day because they never seem to sink into the skin properly and feel I'm restricted in what I can do until its absorbed.
The idea of using it before I went to bed seemed like an excellant idea and now use it every night since!
The cream contains ... ...for your skin, there are so many expensive products around specifically including vitamin F in there ingredients, so this is a much cheaper version!
You could in all honesty most likely find a hand lotion with a higher percentage of vitamin F in but I have found in the past they are at extortionate prices!
I like how the lotion is light, and not too greasy! I find that if a lotion is slightly greasy it tends to make my skin quite supple whereas ...

I bought the Dove rengerating hand cream because it was on offer in Tesco's buy one get one free. It cost £2.09 which was about mid price for the hand creams they had in, but getting one free was great. One to keep at my desk at work and one to have at home.
So let me tell you a little more about the handcream itself.
