With the multi media age offering so much more to users these days, and having acquired a computer with a media centre that receives television programs, I wanted to look into my choice of what I do with these programs once they arrive and I have recorded programs. It's not always convenient to watch television programs on the computer screen and what I was looking for was a neat, easy way of transferring data onto a DVD rom.
There are so many options out there, and a lot of them were too complex for me. I am simple. I like to tell a program to do something, and get an instant response, and with many DVD copy programs, there is too much choice, and sometimes a user like me has no idea which choices to make, since our ability is limited. It's the same with creating a CD of files. I have grown accustomed to many straightforward packages, although the bonus of this package as opposed to others is indeed the fact that one click does whatever you want to do, and it really is easy for someone that doesn't do 'complex'. Life is complicated enough without adding complexity to it, and as the program was offered on a trial basis, giving the user 10 uses of it to decide whether it suited them, I had nothing to lose.
I downloaded the program, watched the video on the site that showed me how to use it, and did just that. It's a light program, doesn't take up much space, but what the designers did was take the difficulty out of copying files onto disc, hid all the stuff that complicates the experience, and created a user friendly program, whereby you right click the file that you want to copy, click the tick box and off you go. It's a 1.7Mb program, downloaded relatively quickly, and I learnt that sometimes easy really is the best way to go.
Copying DVD files.
Here, I use the program in conjunction with DVD shrink, as DVD shrink allows you to compact films by letting you chose to get rid of extras and annoying bits and concentrate on film only. Having shrunk and saved the file to my hard drive, right clicking the file will give me the option to write to disc with this program. It's neat incorporation into the right click feature of windows makes it so simple, but the good things with this program don't stop there. The speed is amazing. Take for example copying one film with Nero against this program and I did the two for comparison purposes. Nero took over an hour, and this program took 23 minutes. That really is a bonus and not only was the speed impressive. The quality of both films burned onto a DVD rom double layer medium was equal. Not only that sound synchronisation was better with this program than with Nero, where voices didn't quite fit the movement of the mouths !
The program takes into account the new drives that have hit the market, lets you take control of what you want to copy, and is capable of handling these kinds of files.
Music (WAV and MP3, OGG and WMA files) Documents Films Videos Photographs
Its ability to copy is amazing. It's speed beats any other program I have ever used and it gives me the means of being in control of my recordings. For example, a 40 minute documentary took ages on Nero. It irritated me that I had to wait so long, whereas with this program, I could manage to do it in less than 10 minutes. Not only that, you have the ability of queueing files to be written to disc, plus the feature of being able to wipe RW media at the touch of a button.
The program can be downloaded from www.oneclicktools.com and shouldn't be confused with other programs of similar title, as there are many which are varied in price. This one is called One-click CD/DVD Writer 1.2.1. and is sold at the reasonable price of 19.00 GBP, and really is worth the money to me, in that it takes hard work out of copying files to disc. I have to admit that I rarely use it for files such as written documents and photographs simply because I have other programs that I prefer though for the writing of DVD Media, the speed beats the competition hands down.
This is no frills software at its best. You get what you pay for, and when I look at the amount of time I spent with more complex programs, I feel that time was wasted when comparing the efficiency of this program and weighing its user friendliness against Nero, DVD Clone, etc. The program has never failed to produce first rate image and sound. Not even one failure, as opposed to many on Nero and similar programs. (i.e. Jumping pictures, sound synchronisation and picture quality) and that amazes me, given my lack of ability and experience. I don't use cheap discs, and believe in paying for quality ones and cannot comment on the program being used with cheap media.
Updates are not available automatically although you can download the latest version and use your product key to activate it. There is also a reasonable manual that comes with the download, enabling users to get the most out of the program.

The only disadvantage to me is the inability to create menus and to write more than one project to a disc, although to me this really is a small area that doesn't bother me. DVD media is relatively cheap these days, and I can afford to use one disc per film project.

A final thought. This program is often confused with one click DVD. It isn't the same program so please use the complete name of the program in Google to find this one because it really is worth it and is cheaper than the other ones.
