Dr Pepper Zero

A few days ago I wrote a review of Dr Pepper in which I mentioned that, although I knew that Dr Pepper Zero exists, it’s really hard to find it in Glasgow, where I currently am. I don’t know why this is, but it’s probably just not popular enough here to be worth selling in newsagents or even supermarkets. One of my favourite drinks is coke, especially the cherry coke and Dr. Pepper. I am aware that it is one of the unhealthiest drinks available but very addictive too. I love it. Dr. Pepper is a fizzy drink manufactured by Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd. Regarding the drink itself looks like any other cola drink, dark brown, carbonated. The scent and taste of it is different though. It tastes like coke with almond and maybe a bit of cherry too. Dr Pepper Zero.... I have always been a fan of drinking Dr Pepper but since trying to loose a lot of weight I decided his was excess calories I could do without. However since they have released the "zero" version of Dr Pepper on to the market this is now something I can drink again. The standard Dr Pepper is packed with sugar and thus the calorie content is ridiculously high and not really worth the taste. The Dr Pepper Zero has only 0.5 kcal per can (330ml) which is perhaps a bit higher than a zero Coca Cola but by something like 0.2 kcal and not even worth mentioning (why did I!). Dr Pepper ... more

Being a Dr. Pepper fan I thought I would give Dr. Pepper Zero a go. I have tried Coke Zero and that tastes as good as it promises in my opinion, so I thought I would be safe with Dr Pepper Zero... boy was I wrong! The taste was so bland it was actually quite sickening. I know the reason Dr Pepper is so nice is because it is jam packed with sugar, which is bad for you. I don't understand how they can get it right with Coke Zero, but so very wrong with Dr Pepper Zero. I am dangerously addicted to fizzy drinks! Trouble is, they are full of sugar and calories (shudder) so I force myself to buy diet ones, even though most of them taste pretty horrible. However, I one day decided to try Dr. Pepper zero because it was on special offer at Tesco (I used to buy Diet Coke all the time) and I was pleasantly surprised! I think it is pretty similar in taste to regular Dr. Pepper, I suppose it tastes like a watered down version.
