Full review
Dr Stuart is one of the more well know brands of Herbal Teas available in many supermarkets and health food shops. I bought this packet in sainsburys for about £1.45 which for 20 teabags, I thought a little steep. However upon opening the packet, I found there was a coupon for 35 pence off my next Dr Stuart purchase so I was quite pleased with that.

INGREDIENTS

These are listed as Dandelion root, burdock root, corn silk, milk thistle, bearberry leaves, liquorice root, peppermint, spearmint, ginger root, sage, galangal root and artichoke leaves!

The clear advantage of this tea, is that there is no caffeine in it, so you are able to drink many cups throughout the day.

FLAVOUR

You are recommended to allow the teabag to brew in hot water for 5 minutes. However, if you are a first timer, I would recommend only a couple of minutes to have a more delicate flavour.

The main flavour I can taste is the dandelion and burdock. There is no hint of liquorice or ginger which is great, because these are items which I can not stand!

It certainly is an acquired taste and at first can taste somewhat grainy and bitter. However, if you stick with it, it really does grow on you and I really enjoy it now.

LOOKS

Depending on how long you leave the teabag in your hot water, the colour changes from a light to dark brown. Not a very attractive sight but at least it does make you think it must be good for you if it looks that awful!

EASE OF USE/STORAGE

The bags come in a nice cardboard little box and are all individually wrapped in paper covers. This keeps your teabag fresher for longer and means you don't end up with tea grains at the bottom of your tea jar or draw at work.

Each bag has a string with a paper label on the end of it, so its not easy to lose the end in your tea, however on occasion, the end has come off it.

HEALTH BENEFITS

Not sure about this but it certainly makes me go to the toilet a lot more, which must be flushing out toxins which can only be good.
The main reason I use it, is to counteract all the rubbish I sometimes eat and to avoid caffeine.

RECOMMEND/CONDEMN?

I would recommend this tea, however remember it IS an acquired taste and therefore it will not be everyone's cup of tea if you pardon the pun!

As far as detox teas go, this is certainly up to, if not above, the general standard.

There probably are more cost effective options available, so if you are not specifically wanting a detox tea, then I would suggest trying one of the cheaper brands which can be found in most main stream food shops.
