Kami is the Guardian of the Earth for the beginning sagas, then Den-De comes and takes over. Den-De is a Namek, which they meet when they are on Namek.
OPENING This review is about the DragonBall Z TV show, that now previews on the channel called Toonami, on channel number 903 (if your using an NTL Digi Box). DragonBall Z is basically about Son-Goku (the main character in the TV show), whom when in DragonBall (the first series) is a young man, who grows up to be a protector of the planet Earth, of what he thought was the only planet, but then he ends up being the defender of the universe, and he has a lot of burden upon his shoulders. Can he handle the pressure, does he crack, well see for your self, read the rest of this review. This review is rated a PG, so no one under 8 should be reading this without an adult with them.
DRAGONBALLS The Dragonballs are 7 magical spheres that when they all are collected, you can make a wish within the dragons power, there is a command you have to say like, *Dragon I summon you* well that type of thing. If Piccolo or Kami (Nameks that use to be one, but they got too evil so they separated) dies, then the Dragonballs will be destroyed, as they are the guardians of earth and they made the Dragonballs for this planet. Nameks have the power to create the Dragonballs, like the Dragonballs on Namek, they are much bigger, and you can make 3 wishes, but they are not as powerful as the ones on Earth.
THE HISTORY OF THE SAIYAN'S Goku is a Saiyan (another planets race), he was sent from Planet Vegeta to Planet Earth, so when he becomes older, he will be able to destroy Earth. When there is a full moon, and the Saiyans have their tail, they will go all Oozaroo and transform into this giant ape creature. This only happens when there is a full moon.
The Saiyans are a different race, they look like humans but they have some advantages. Like true Saiyans hair does not grow, and when the moon is full, if they look at it, they go Oozaro and turn into a giant ape monster. If you want more info on the Saiyans, check out my Bardok review, which will give you all the info you need. Goku (the main character) is a Saiyan, and he is very powerful. There is a legend that when you get powerful enough; you will turn into a Super Saiyan. When your hair turns gold and your power goes past the limit.
Goku's father was called Bardok, and he was a Saiyan of many talents. He created this ball of light, which can when you focus it, you can throw it in the air and make it seam like it is a full moon, so they can turn into their giant ape creatures when needed too.
Bardok has his on feature called Bardok: The Father of Goku, which is about when Freeza (this evil person from this weird planet that wants to take over the universe) takes control of the Saiyans, so he wants them to do his dirty work. Bardok goes to this distant planet with his gang of fighters. Before they go, his gang goes before him as Bardok has hurt himself in a previous battle. His gang of fighters gets destroyed by Freeza's henchman. His henchman is called Dodria. Dodria is a pink spotted alien; he ambushes Bardok's mates, and kills them. When Bardok gets there, his best friend’s life was hanging on a thread, and he was able to tell Bardok that Dodria killed them before he passed away.
Bardok found this alien, 1 left on the planet he was on. This planet race was talented with being able to see into the future, and they gave Bardok this power too. Bardok could see that Freeza was going to destroy all of the Saiyans, and take over their planet. He saw his son Goku as a kid, and when he becomes a man, and his happy family, and when he becomes a Super Saiyan (this is a transformation only Saiyans can do, or half Saiyans). Bardok tries to stop Freeza, but fails, and all the Saiyans get destroyed but a few.
SAIYAN SAGA The story line is, first off, there is a Saiyan called Raditz, Goku's so called older brother, oh and Saiyans also have a tail. Raditz comes to recruit Goku, but Goku refuses, so then Raditz takes Goku's son Gohan instead. The story line is Goku trying to get him back. But Goku dies in the process, but he trains with the legendary King Kai (the king of the north quadrant of the universe). Goku learns this skill called Kao Ken, which is a transformation Goku can do, it makes his power level higher. Power level is like how strong you are, the higher it is, and the more powerful you are. Piccolo (a green Namek from Namek, which is a different planet) helps Goku beat Raditz, but Piccolo survives.
The second part of the story line is to protect the world from two evil Saiyans called Vegeta and Nappa. Goku and earth Special Forces have to stop them from destroying the earth. Vegata and Nappa's intentions are to come to Earth and collect the 7 Dragonballs (I will talk about these further in the review) so they can make a wish for immortality. But Goku don’t like the sound of that, and he stops them.
NAMEK SAGA This Saga is to do with when, Goku finally defeats Vegeta. He has to go into a hospital to heal up. While Goku is in the hospital, Bulma, Krillin and Gohan go to Namek, to get the Dragonballs so they can revive Piccolo, so then they will have the Dragonballs on their planet again. But they go to this other planet, which they think is Planet Namek, but its not, there is these 2 aliens that can transform into other people, so they become Nameks, and Bulma and the gang think that they are Nameks.
But the transformers, are only doing this, because there is no way of escaping the planet, accept when the electric field passes, which passes every 2 years for only 1 hour, and the transformer people are hoping to escape. But they fail, because Bulma figures their plan out.
FREEZA SAGA The Freeza Saga, is after the Namek Saga, which ill write a review on another time. Freeza has a brother called Cooler who you do not see in this, there is 2 films about him. Coolers Revenge and The Return of Cooler. Freeza's father is called King Cole. Freeza can transform into 4 different him's. There's his basic form, then his first transformation is making himself larger, what his father stays in that transformation, then the second one is he changes his face and his power, that’s what Cooler is in, then there is his final transformation which is his final form. But he can bump his muscles up after that to make him 100% full power.
He fights Super Saiyan Goku in that form. Goku turn Super Saiyan in this saga. Gohan and Krillin are here, and they get beaten up by The Ginyu Force (Freeza's Special Forces). Goku takes out these. There are two main bad guys with Freeza at the beginning called Zarbon and Dodria. They are aliens under Freeza's control. Vegeta is there also, but he is sort of good, because he teams up with Gohan and Krillin.
Piccolo comes too, because he dies in the Saiyan saga, and they come to Namek to get their Dragonballs, so they can resurrect Piccolo, and also for him to save them from Freeza, which he does a sort of good job. Goku does not defeat Freeza, but he batters him up very good. Namek blows up, but Freeza comes back in Trunks Saga with his father King Cole.
The story line is to get Namek Draonballs to resurrect Piccolo, so the Dragonballs on Earth will come back. Goku goes there to stop Freeza from destroying the universe, and to sort of get revenge on him killing his fellow Saiyan's. That’s pretty much it, well Vegeta is there to get the Dragonballs as well, and same as Freeza. Vegeta wants them for immortality, and so does Freeza, so one of them could be the ultimate warrior and destroy everything, so no one can defeat any of them.
INFOMATION ON OTHER SAGA'S There are loads more Saga's, but I can only give you so much information. The next saga after Freeza Saga is Garlic JR saga, this is about the return of Garlic JR (this small freaky evil person) who wants to kill Gohan from what he did in the previous time. Garlic JR has his own feature called The Dead Zone.
The saga after that is called Trunks Saga, which when Trunks enters, well future Trunks does. Trunks is a future half Saiyan, son to Bulma and Vegeta. He comes back to the past to tell Goku that he will die of a new virus in 3 years time, and 2 evil androids will come to destroy the Earth at the same time. Trunks gives Goku the cure for it, and then he returns to his time in the future.
Then there is the Android Saga, which is to do with all the evil androids. Trunks comes back, because it has not changed the future, and the history has been changed because of it as well. The 2 evil androids take out Vegeta in his Super Saiyan State,.
Next saga is Imperfect Cell Saga, Cell is an android created by Dr Gero's (the evil creator of all androids) computer from the future, which comes onboard with Trunks, or something like that. These sagas are confusing.
Then there is Perfect Cell Saga, which is when Cell has been able to absorb Android 17 and 18, so he can become his perfect form, can Super Vegeta and Super Trunks take him out? Watch the saga and see for yourself.
After that there is Cell Games Saga, which is when Cell puts up a tournament, because he wants to show off his true power, but he don’t know who is worthy enough to do so. Cell gets destroyed in this saga by none other than Super Saiyan 2 Gohan.
The sagas after this are Great Saiyaman saga, World Tournament Saga, Babedi Saga, Buu Saga, Fusion Saga and Kid Buu Saga. These are all very entertaining. This is 7 years since they defeated Cell in the Cell Games Saga, and now they have a load more bad guys to tackle.
TRANSFORMATIONS There are many transformations, like Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, and then Super Siayan 3, and then Super Saiyan 4, which is in DragonBall GT (the 3rd series). Only Saiyans can go through these transformations. Piccolo has a few of his own, he has Sync with Nail, other words a fusion, what only Nameks can do, and he Fuses with Kami, which makes his much more powerful. Kami is the Guardian of the Earth for the beginning sagas, then Den-De comes and takes over. Den-De is a Namek, which they meet when they are on Namek.
OTHER If you want more info on DragonBall Z features, just check out my feature reviews. You can go to www.playusa.com and buy them off there for cheap, or go to www.amazon.co.uk and you can get some off there, but be weary, they are Region 1, and they need an American DVD player or a Multi Region DVD player for them to work.
LENGTH OF EPISODES: Around 25 minutes. CERT: PG RATING: 5 star * * * * *

...in 1984 known as Dragonball. Dragonball now consists of three series, a bunch of movies, manga, and a heck of a lot of merchandise. The first series is known as Dragonball, and begins the tale. Advantages: Great variety in plot and story line, characters are al unique and progress in there own way, and all serve their own purpose. Takes place on a variety of scenes, and is just great all round fun to watch. The fight scenes are also incredible to watch. Disadvantages: Some scenes go on for a tad too long, there are many shots of the characters just breathing which gets kind of annoying.
...3 style series i nthe DragonBall series. Dragonball, DragonBall Z a,d DragonBall GT.
But right now i am going to tal to you about DragonBallZ.
This is a great monument to the Anime and Manga style genre. It has great story, great plot, and has you on the edge of your seat each nail biting minute.
The main star in DragonBallZ is a fellow called Goku. Goku is a member of the Sayjin race (pronounced Say-in) who was sent to the earth when he was just ... ...with indescribable power.
In DragonBall Z, the strong martial artists are able to use special energy techniques (kinda liek the stuff you see on street fighter) although this i much more indepth with different styles and techniques that all the characters have.
The DragonBallZ series starts with Goku a grown man, if you wanna see him as a kid you need to watch the original DragonBall series which are only in english subtitles as far as i know and ...

...more combat in case a Dragonball wish summons them back to Earth. This cartoon is all about super powered aliens (and the occasional human) fighting each other. It is all presented in the animation style any one who’s seen a Manga or Anime film will recognise. Facial expressions are exaggerated, inspiring monologues are required before anyone can do anything, taunting your enemy is an art form and each and every attack is announced by shouting its ... ...back on inside.
When DragonBall Z started to show on Cartoon Network it came with a parental warning. The network was clearly testing the water. Then came the adverts in between cartoons, “Cartoon Network; home of the Dragonball Sagas!” Huge audiences were being attracted. The risk had paid off. ...

Advantages: Unlike any other cartoon, and in a good way. Disadvantages: Totally butchered when compared to the original Japanese version.
If you've never seen the original Japanese version of Dragon Ball Z, then you probably think it's one of the best cartoons ever made. And not without good reason either. Kung-fu cartoons aren't exactly all that big anywhere outside of Japan, and when you see Dragon Ball Z for the first time, it's just like nothing else you've ever seen. People fly, shoot lasers out of their eyes, turn into giant monkeys, blast fireballs out of their hands... it's ... ...Street Fighter and then made a cartoon about it, and it's the perfect thing for when you just want to relax, switch your brain off and watch something on the TV.
But there are people out there who've seen the original Japanese version. They know all about just how weak the version we get to see is. They know all about how criminally bad some of the dubbed voices are compared to the original ones. They know about how the beautiful Japanese music ...

Advantages: It has a really good story, some intense battles and amazing music. Disadvantages: There aren't any!
Dragonball Z is a Japanese cartoon about some fighters who try to guard Earth from evil Forces. It is a sequel to Dragonball and prequel to Dragonball GT, AF and TS. The main character is Goku; he is a Sayan from the planet Vegetta. This means he is more powerful than all the other guardians. He (like all the other fighters) has the ability to use KI attacks. This is when they shoot a ball of energy from their hands. This can damage opponents quite ... ...I have watched Dragonball Z since it started on Cartoon Network to the present day. I will still keep watching every episode until it ends. There was also some games made for Gameboy and SNES, I have played all of them and recommend them all to you. If you have never watched DBZ before or you’ve only seen it once or twice, watch it, I am telling you you’re missing out on something big! Every Thursday from 5:00 to 5:30 you watch Dragonball Z! Advantages: great channel | great programs Disadvantages: some channels are not that entertaining, to me anyway
Toonami is a channel on Satellite, use to be known as CNX, and still is in some countries. It changed to Toonami, as it was toons 24/7. One of my favourite programs is on here... DragonBallZ, as you know. I don?t know the times for any of these programs because it?s different each day around about.
There are loads of programs on this channel, and first I will list them and give information about each program that I know of.
DragonBallZ - This program is on quite a few times during the day, it?s recently been on at 1pm - 2pm, in my case, Happy Hour. DragonBallZ is roughly, an alien from out of space, who looks like humans, saves the Earth, fuelled by the seven orange Dragonballs.
Justice League - Ponse program, it?s about seven super heroes that have formed a team, called the Justice Team. Batman and Super-Man are in this ...

Advantages: Continuation of a great anime Disadvantages: Too repetitive
This show is a continuation of the ever-popular DragonballZ. It takes place 10 years after DragonballZ. Pan is now 14 and Son Gohan and Son Goten are adults (Gohan is 36 and Goten is 27). This show has a mix of the humor of Dragonball and the violence of DragonballZ.
Things I didn't like: HORRIBLE music!!!! It was probably the worst music ever to be in an anime, and it sounds like some 60's orchestral garbage for an action cartoon end theme (unfortunately most of the time it was playing music)!! Through the entire short-lived series, there were only 64 episodes and 2 seasons. It was very short for an anime series, probably because many people hated the show because Toriyama-sama didn't help with much, all he did was be an "artistic consultant". The show focused too much on Goku without much regard to the other characters. He was ...

Dexter's Lab is the cartoon story of the boy genius mad scientist Dexter and his ongoing war with his sister Dee Dee. It's loud and it's brash and it's the sort of thing that Cartoon Network does very well, but I can't say that it's something I'm over keen on. It's quite simplistic and drab and has a single joke played out to the extreme.
My 11 year old son quite likes it, but he much prefers Pokemon or DragonballZ and I'm not sure who Dexter's Lab would appeal to.
Don't get me wrong, it's okay in small doses, but it's not something you can watch hundreds of episodes of.
There's been a couple of good shows, particularly the one where Dexter swaps places with his complete opposite alter ego and that made a change, but in general there's nothing here folks. ...
