Advantages:
Great variety in plot and story line, characters are al unique and progress in there own way, and all serve their own purpose .  Takes place on a variety of scenes, and is just great all round fun to watch .  The fight scenes are also incredible to watch .

Disadvantages:
Some scenes go on for a tad too long, there are many shots of the characters just breathing which gets kind of annoying .

..the answer is yes.

I am a great fan of Dragon Ball Z. There are kind of 3 style series i nthe DragonBall series. Dragonball, DragonBall Z a,d DragonBall GT.
But right now i am going to tal to you about DragonBallZ.

This is a great monument to the Anime and Manga style genre. It has great story, great plot, and has you on the edge of your seat each nail biting minute.

The main star in DragonBallZ is a fellow called Goku. Goku is a member of the Sayjin race (pronounced Say-in) who was sent to the earth when he was just a baby to destroy it. Fortunately when he crash landed in the middle of the woods he was found by a man named Gohan who became is adopted father you might say. With no knowledge of where he came from, or his purpose, Gohan raised Goku just like any other normal child - with the excpetion of Goku having a tail for you see the Sayjins were a race of savages and were all round rough guys, not very smart but incredibly strong, and under the light of the full moon turned into gigantic apes with indescribable power.

In DragonBall Z, the strong martial artists are able to use special energy techniques (kinda liek the stuff you see on street fighter) although this i much more indepth with different styles and techniques that all the characters have.
The DragonBallZ series starts with Goku a grown man, if you wanna see him as a kid you need to watch the original DragonBall series which are only in english subtitles as far as i know and are hard to find. But basically Goku is a great martial artist, and was taught by Master Roshi, once world martial arts champion - who also taught Krillin (gokus short, best friend). The first episode shows a mysterious stranger arriving on planet earth - a dude named Raddits who turns out ot be Gokus brother - this is the point where Goku finds about who he really is a sayjin, and Raddits has come to kill his brother for failing in his mission, and Raddits being much stronger than Goku and his friends beats goku down, but who should come to his rescue? his 3 year old son Gohan (yes his son was named after is dad). Gohan is part sayjin and as such has some of his fathers powers, but it is later discovered that he has a hidden power deep inside, well anyway when his father is lying beaten on the ground with no way out, Gohan hears his fathers cries and leaps into action, killing Raddits with an almighty headbut. Although Gohan was too late, and as his father is about to die the Dragon balls are mentioned. The Dragon balls are special balls that when brought together enable the great dragon to be summoned and can grant a wish - so his friends vow to colect all 7 dragonballs and wish him back to life, but as Raddits is lying there dead, his com unit is still turned on and Vegeta (prince of the once proud sayjin race which is now non existant because a vicious tyrant blew up the planet) hears about the mystical dragon balls and decides he will collect them for himself and become immortal.

Thats the initial part of the story - there are many sagas, which i will briefly go over below:
1. Sayjin saga - as described above. The evil sayjins arrive and begin beating up Gokus friends while they wait for him to get back from his special training with King Kai - for you see when a warrior dies in a noble fight they get sent to sanke way, where they get to keep their bodies (rather than be just clouds of soul) and can train with kin kai a supreme martial arts master at the end of the treturous (and long) snake way). He comes back and helps defend the planet from the evil sayjins (gee i wonder if he wins - lol)

2.Namek Saga - due to all of their friends who died in the previous saga, Goku and the gang need to goto Namek - the place where the Dragon balls originally came from as they used their wish and would have to wait another year to wish them all back - but on namek they get 3 wishes. Once there they start the search for the balls, but discover that the evil tyrant and scurge of the universe frieza is there and is looking for the dragonballs himself, and also while on namek they team up with vegeta.

3.Frieza saga - frieza stars destroying all of Namek so the Z fighters must fight against him to save the planet and the Namekians. This is when Goku advances to super sayjin level - which is liek well strong - and fights frieza.

Those are the first 3 sagas, i dont want to continue for the worry of spoiling it for everyone, as the Frieza saga is a crutial point in the series.

For a cartoon this is incredible, and unkown to many people it was actually made quite a few years ago and took a while to convert to english AND they made 13 MOVIES of DraginBallZ of which one i have seen and was incredible because the artits put much more time and effort into the movies making the effects ever more spectacular.

The story lines are always varied and interesting, which different twists and turns occur and things happen in this cartoon that dont happen in others (for example the main hero dies.. SEVERAL TIMES!). Though this cartoons is by no means grose and violent neither, it is enjoyed greatly by a variety of age groups. Also what i thoroughly enjoy is that this is probably the only cartoon that i have ever seen where the characters actually get older which i think is much more enjoyable as you get to see them change and progress through the years.

I highly recommend this to anyone who either likes manga, cartoons in general, marital art genre movies and just have a general interest in something different!
