The series is based on the manga written by Akira Toriyama, who released it in Japan between 1984 and 1995, and entails Goku, the hero of the series, in his search(es) for the Dragonballs, 7 mystical ... ...Z, and some even onto Dragonball GT, which follow Goku in his fight against evil. I feel that the characters are developed very well throughout the whole series, and also when they go on to Z and GT.
I would highly reccomend this series to anyone who is interested in the Martial, Sci-fi type anime. I know I liked it the first few times I watched through! ... more
Well, there's alot to say here. Please be aware there may be some spoliers to the series here. You have been warned.
I was introduced to Dragonball when I was about 13, when Toonami (UK) played a marathon day from 7 in the morning to 11 in the evening. I wasn't originally too keen on it back then, but that's really what started my Manga / Anime thing.
The series is based on the manga written by Akira Toriyama, who released it in Japan between 1984 and 1995, and entails Goku, the hero of the series, in his search(es) for the Dragonballs, 7 mystical balls that grant the user a wish, then they are unusable for the next year.
In all, there are 9 sagas (in the english version, only 5 in the japanese), and these cover the 153 half hour episodes that were made.
There have been 4 movies to complement the series, each with different titles depending on the publisher (Toei or FUNimation).
The series follows Goku, Bulma, Roshi, Yamcha, Krillen, Tien, Launch, Chi-Chi, Oolong, Puar, and many more as they search for the Dragonballs, fighting many different enimies to get them. On the way, Goku learns many powerful techniques, learns from many masters and triumphs at the emd of the series.
The characters don't finish at the end of Dragonball, they go onto Dragon Ball Z, and some even onto Dragonball GT, which follow Goku in his fight against evil. I feel that the characters are developed very well throughout the whole series, and also when they go on to Z and GT.
I would highly reccomend this series to anyone who is interested in the Martial, Sci-fi type anime. I know I liked it the first few times I watched through!

I think many of you have heard of Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z now that it?s pretty much mainstream and it?s been shown on Cartoon Network. If you don?t watch it, your kids probably do, as they are the target audience. It?s been hugely popular over the years among Eastern Asians, and anime fans with myself included. Some anime fans love it, others hate it for various reasons. There have been debates about why it?s so great or why it?s not compared to other animes of similar genres. Some might just think of it as eye candy for boys. Well, I like it. I first watched it when I was like seven.

OPENING
This review is about the DragonBall Z TV show, that now previews on the channel called Toonami, on channel number 903 (if your using an NTL Digi Box). DragonBall Z is basically about Son-Goku (the main character in the TV show), whom when in DragonBall (the first series) is a young man, who grows up to be a protector of the planet Earth, of what he thought was the only planet, but then he ends up being the defender of the universe, and he has a lot of burden upon his shoulders. DragonballZ is about a man named Goku, having a son named Gohan. Goku was sent to Earth to destroy it from the plant Vegeta. He forgot his mission after having an accdent and loosing his memory. After this accident Goku became a happy loving person and did everything he could to stop evil from destroying his friends, home, and the universe. He faces many challangers such as his brother Raditz, Vegeta, Nappa, Frieza, Buu, Cell and the Androids.
If anything ever went wrong, Goku and friends collect the 7 magic dragonballs for wishes to help things go back to normal.
This serie has a total 291 (Japanese) and 276 (English, being redubbed uncut) And 16 movies/specials :D
I have been a fan of DragonballZ for 9 years now and still loving it, I reccomend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet!!! :) ...
