Dragons Den is shown on BBC2 and has five judges who are Theo Paphitis, James Caan, Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones & Duncan Bannatyne who between them are worth over 1 billion pounds. The show is hosted by Evan Davis.
The concept of the show is very well thought out but also quite simple. Entrepreneurs will enter the Dragons Den, have a quick chat with Evan Davis to explain what they are producing or what their idea is and then they will be sent through to the Dragons' Den. They will pitch their product or service to the Dragons and then they will ask for a certain amount of cash for a percentage stake in their company. It is then up to the Dragons to ask questions about their product or service and test things out and advise whether or not they think the product or service is viable and then they will say whether they want to purchase the stake in the company for the amount requested. The entrepreneur must get all of the money that they asked for, however, quite often they will find themselves having to give away a higher stake in their business than they had originally offered.
I love to see what the ideas are and what the Dragons will make of them and quite often they will test out products and basically just pick things about. If somebody says that a product is indestructible then more often than not it is Theo who ends up breaking it!
Each judge has their own personality and their own views of course and sometimes some of them will club together to buy a stake and this is great for the entrepreneur as it gives them even more knowledge and assistance than if they were having just one Dragon get on board.
The narration is done by Evan Davis and he is very informative and picks up on any tensions in the room very well and this helps to bring the show alive for viewers.
I would advise giving Dragons' Den a watch, it's very addictive viewing and they have some absolutely fantastic ideas on the show which they may turn down for financial reasons or not trusting the entrepreneur and then in the future the item will start to appear in shops. Quite a few people have had success through the show and recently I have seen a few items reviewed on here that were originally from the show. This is addictive viewing and I really enjoy watching the show, therefore I am rating it 5/5.
