Advantages: Made me read the book before hand which was a wonderful read.
Disadvantages: Very disappointing film that has nothing on the book.

I saw the ads for this film early on and ordered the book from Play.com It may possibly have been the best desicion I have made in a long while. The book was so brilliant that I kind of new what I was letting myslef in for at the cinema. It was a luke warm film, very sparse in it's storyline and frankly not great. Advantages: Compelling, great build-up of suspense

Advantages: Enjoyable story, Scarlett Johansson
Disadvantages: Not funny, Laura Linney, Ending

The film starts with Annie (Scarlett Johansson), our main character, analysing the people of north-east section of New York as family groups in contrast with tribal groups. Sections of a museum are shown and clips of day to day life are turned into dioramas in the museum explained by Annie. The odd thing is that a intrinsic ingredient to these North-East people is that all their families have nannies. She then goes onto tell us the story that leads ...

Advantages: poetic, moving
Disadvantages: makes me cry!

...a good weepy. City of Angels is a love story with depth, not unlike Romeo and Juliet in my oppinion. The movie is touching and poetic, brought to life by a superb script, strong acting and a knock-out sound track. Maggie Rice (Meg Ryan) is a surgeon who begins to question her own existence and purpose when she cannot save a patient undergoing heart surgery.
