Absolutely Wonderful Say Goodbye to Nappy Rash
Advantages available in Boots, Chemists but not supermarkets
Disadvantages not one single one
I set out wanting to be good Mum. I wanted to do everything right for my child. I used the cream mentioned in books given by the attending mid-wife (Sudocrem). But my baby kept getting redness which was obviously sore. Then I visited someone I had met in hospital who had also just had a baby. I happened to be there during her child's nappy change. The baby was squealing/howling and writhing in absolute agony. I have never before seen such bad nappy rash- it was really bad- a large area was bright red, with weeping shiney sores and lots of bumps. The same cream I was using was applied- heaps of it, only to cause more howling. I became almost as distressed as the baby. I felt her baby should be seen by a doctor but she said she was a busy Mum who didn't have the time!
So I took my child to our GP who told me to use Drapolene (which is also good for minor burns). SI went to our local chemist and started using Drapolene- a pleasant, not greasy, but light, pink cream, in a simple white pot (with navy blue logo lettering and pink background). Applying the cream did not seem to sting- there was no crying or sobbing but there was the reaction as if to say the cream is cold. Within 2 days I noticed an improvement. The redness vanished. And she has not got so much as one pimple on her bum again! So if there are any distressed Mum's out there who want to know how to get rid of nappy rash, and avoid nappy rash, I recommend you start using antiseptic soothing Drapolene.
Footnote:The pots are also useful when the labels are removed, for storing play-dough, buttons etc.

Hi. You have written some very helpful stuff in your last comment, why not put this in your opinion, as sometimes people don't read the comments section.

moose- as far as I know, Drapolene comes in 2 sizes: a small pot (which is hard to get your fingers down to the bottom) and a larger pot which is great for use at home, but not for carrying around if you are out and about. The pots are white plastic. Drapolene is a product few Mums get to hear about- other creams always seem to be recommended in magazines etc., but having used these other creams I know Drapolene works to a). heal nappy rash and b). stop nappy rash developing. Zinc is a very heavy, greasy cream to use, the smell is not too pleasant, and it does get removed by urine and the nappy rubbing against the skin. Strangely, Drapolene is a lighter, much less greasy cream yet this acts as a much more effective barrier. Am I a churner? NO. I just know how upsetting nappy rash can be and thought my comments might help other Mums. Have a Happy Yuletide.
