...I purchased a Dreamland Premier Deluxe Electric Under-blanket in October 1999. I saw a recall notice in the press earlier this year (late March 2001), called the help-line and established that the model I had was subject to the recall because the insulation of the wiring of the controllers was sub-standard. I was warned not to use the blanket until this fault had been rectified. I was also informed that due to “production difficulties” the replacement controllers might not be available until early July. The 2 controllers were returned to Dreamland on 23rd April 2001. I had heard nothing further from Dreamland by the end of June, so I contacted the Dreamland help-line again to find out when I might expect to receive the replacement controllers. ...To save the reader from having to plough all the way through to the end to get to this update, I’ve put it at the beginning. Re the comment about duvets in paragraph 4. During a recent foray in some of our local electrical superstores I noticed that you could now buy an electric duvet for around £80, which I assume, is for a single bed. Also that normal over blankets can be placed inside a duvet. It says so on the boxes. Rather than piling more and more blankets onto a bed in the wintertime maybe people should consider the electric blanket as an alternative. Some people opt for the under blanket but I found the element uncomfortable to lie on so my choice is the over blanket, but it's each to their own. Having had the same Dreamland over blanket in regular winter use for more than fifteen years without even a hint of a problem... Read review

Advantages: Ultra fast warm up, extra foot heat, lovely fleecy feel, unplugs to wash
Disadvantages: Controls plug in too close to my head

...I've always tended to sleep very cold, so last year I finally decided to treat myself to an electric blanket. I wish I'd bought one earlier - it's fantastic. After researching the relative merits of several different blankets, I settled for the Dreamland "Ready For Bed" underblanket (double) - £49.99 from Argos last year. The key difference between this and others was that it has an ultra-fast 10 minute warm up. I've slept in beds with electric blankets before when staying with friends and have never remembered to go and turn it on before going to bed. Their blankets have always taken about 30 minutes to warm up so I lie there shivering until it reaches a cosy temperature. Not so with my blanket! I only turn it on when I go up to bed and, by the time I've brushed my teeth and got myself ready, it is as warm as toast! Fantastic... Read review
