I have been on a quest recently to try and reduce the amount of fizzy drinks I have daily. They aren't good for you and I am more than a little addicted to diet coke.

As a child I loved Ribena, anything blackcurrant flavoured tends to remind me of my youth and when I spotted a bottle of drench Blackcurrant and Apple in my local cinema, I thought I'd opt for a bottle of this instead of ordering my usual diet coke.

The bottle itself is a typical plastic 440ml bottle with a sturdy plastic lid and an interestingly raised dribble effect around the neck of the bottle.

I'd seen the drench water adverts in the past, memorable for having brains from thunderbirds doing a funky little dance and the clear slogan of "brains perform better when hydrated"

The "juicy spring water" as it is called on the label is a nice red/purple colour that instantly reminded me of Ribena. It looks refreshing and light and didn't disappoint. Once open the smell of apples and blackcurrant is clear and smells very nice. It isn't over powering or particularly sweet, which is something I liked as I really do not like overly sweetened juice drinks, especially if my motivation for drinking it is to avoid unhealthy things.

The juice itself is extremely refreshing and the water based drink is hydrating as well as having a lovely taste. You can clearly taste both the apples and the blackcurrant in the drink but neither are too weak or overpowering. Being a bottled water company, I half expected the "flavour" to be a lot weaker and the drink to be more like those "hint of" drinks. That is basically flavoured water, but it isn't. It is a lot more like a squash drink with the apple and blackcurrant, as I said being clearly apparent in the taste.

I paid £2 for my bottle of Drench, but I have seen it in the supermarkets for a lot cheaper and it is also available in multi packs, which can be picked up for additional savings.

I would have no issues at all with suggesting this to anyone who is a fan of apple or blackcurrant drinks. It does have more calories and sugar than a usual bottle of water would obviously, but for a refreshing and tasty bottle of water, I feel it's worth it. I wouldn't buy a bottle of normal water so at least this gets me drinking more water based fluids than diet coke!

There are also no artificial flavours, colours or sweeteners in the drink. So it's all natural

Thanks for Reading :)
