I would not say I had a problem with severe excessive sweating, but when it is hot I do sweat more than I would like to and with a holiday in Benidorm coming up I wanted to try and find something that would keep me dry and confident whilst I was away.

I brought my bottle of Driclor in Boots and it cost me £5.99 for a 20ml bottle. This might sound expensive but as it is in effect a roll on deodorant of sorts, this bottle should last quite a long time. This leads me to the first gripe I have though. When you open the box it comes in, you will find that you have to actually put the bottle together. They supply you with the bottle of deodorant with a lid on it and then the roller ball separately. Whoever thought this up needs their head testing. Why on earth would you want to put something like this together yourself? You need to push the roller ball into the top of the bottle of deodorant. This is not as simple as it sounds either. The fit has to be pretty tight so it requires a lot of pressure to push the roller ball in. I slipped a couple of times (it is a ball after all) and it then got deodorant on the ball I was trying to push in, making it even more slippery. I eventually managed but the fit is not tight enough and every time I tip it up to apply it, it leaks deodorant down my hands and side. This is really frustrating as I can't get the ball out now to try again and I can't push it down any further.

Driclor is a clinically proven anti-perspirant for the treatment of excessive perspiration and is especially suitable for people who perspire under normal conditions. Well, this is what the box says anyway. I agree it does resemble a normal roll on anti-perspirant although the smell is more like veruca gel! Not very pleasant but this is not really apparent after application though thank goodness. Following the instructions in the box you should apply this at nighttime to dry, unbroken skin that has not been recently shaved. Just roll it around your armpit as you would a normal deodorant. Wash it off in the morning, apply your normal deodorant and there you have it. Apparently after a week or two of nightly applications you should be experiencing a marked improvement on the amount you sweat and then you can reduce the application to every few days.

I tried this with real enthusiasm on the first night and applied liberally all over my armpit, not wanting to miss an area for fear of patchy sweating! Ha ha. Anyway, I covered the whole armpit area on each side and let it dry into my skin for a few minutes before settling down to bed. I didn't get that far. Within 10 seconds my armpits began to burn. They felt like I had really intense pins and needles and an overwhelming itchiness hit me like a ton of bricks.

I really tried to ignore it and just squeezed my arms tightly to the side of me to try and squash out the itchiness but this did not work and in the end I had to scratch. This left me really sore and the burning just went on and on. In the end, after suffering for about 20 minutes I washed it off but this did not stop the burning pins and needles and this went on for about an hour in total, although lessening in intensity as the time went on.

Not wanting to give up on it after the first application I tried again the next night. This was a major mistake as my armpits were sore from the previous nights scratching and rubbing and the burning came instantly again but felt worse due to my already weakened armpits.

I tried again after a week or so of letting things settle down again. This time I didn't use as much on the area and although it still itched and burned it was a little more bearable, although I couldn't completely leave it alone and had to rub my armpits with a dry flannel to try and alleviate the feeling. This still went on for about an hour.

I have used a little bit each night for about a week now but I have not experienced anything that will change my world in terms of lessened sweat. Mind you, it has not exactly been hot this week but I am still sweating and I expected to have stopped by now as my sweating was not that prolific to begin with. I feel pretty cheated that I have gone through all this pain (and it is painful at times!) and I am still in the same position as before.

Maybe I am looking for a miracle cure but this is not it in my opinion. Coupled with the burning and itchiness I could not recommend this product to anyone without fear of them experiencing the pain I did with it. If you have sensitive skin anyway, definitely stay away from this. Everyone is different and you may experience no problems it but reading others reviews it seems the itchiness is a common trend in usage and I would not be happy about balancing that feeling out with the fact that it may actually work for some people. If it had worked for me and I had stopped sweating I still think I would have given up usage as I couldn't bear the pins and needles effect.

I have thrown my leaky bottle away now and will look for some other prevention method. Anyone had botox injections? lol
