Advantages: Looks like a solid piece of electronic kit Disadvantages: Didnt notice over half of the many speed cameras near me
I bought one of these but returned it as it didn't recognise most of the speed cameras near me in north London. Maybe that's the price of a free database. I changed to an Origin B2, which was great.

I took them to court and they were ordered to refund the cost of the unit and my costs. It will be interesting to see if they pay voluntarily or whether I have to call in the bailiffs.

Advantages: Free database updates Disadvantages: Customer service is appalling
Having bought my drivesmart and got it working I at first found the Forum on the web site useful. Customer service was slow and emails had clearly not been read... replies bore no relation to the questions asked. But the device itself was good and the promised free updates materialised.
I do wonder about these updates however as some corrections I sent were never included. Is the database accurate? You won't know until or unless you are caught by ... ...the device had a fault. Emails and phone calls to the company went completely without reply, I have never heard from them again. The forum is now not working so support from that is non existant too. Luckily the company from which I purchased the unit were able to help me out.
Database updates do continue to appear regularly.
My advice would be not to buy. I suspect that the company are in trouble .. or that if they are not now they soon will be ...

Advantages: Free updates for life, frequent updates available. Disadvantages: None
I have recently purchased the Drivesmart radar detector and am very pleased with it.
Unlike most detectors there is no monthly fee for updates, they are free for life. New updates are available every few days and are very easy to load. If you find a camera that isn't on the database yet, you can add it to your own database by pressing a button. If you notify the Drivesmart people about it, done on their website via a very active forum, it us added ... ...One feature I find very useful, when driving in a strange area, is that when it warns you about a camera it tells you the speed limit at that point.
The features are as follows:-
Plug & Play installation into any vehicle. World's first fully upgradeable unit that allows new features to be added by software updates. FREE DATABASE updates for LIFE an EU first. Detects accident blackspots, all types of speed cameras fixed ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Drive Smart"
Advantages: Economic, safe, easy to park, fun to drive. Disadvantages: at times the automatic transmission can be annoying, a few blindspots
I always liked the look of the smart car, so when I had to start driving one to do deliveries at work I was quite excited. Although I do not own one myself I have decided to review what its like to drive the Smart Car (this is not a fully detailed review, as I feel the driving experience is more important):
When getting into the car for the first time I noticed that the ignition was positioned by the handbrake, set in fluorescent plastic making it easier to see at night (a nice little touch). It was more spacious than I had imagined and a large sunroof above let plenty of light into the car making it feel even roomier. The positioning and height of the seats gave a good view of the road ahead providing good visibility of the road as well as keeping the driver/passenger away from the danger zone in a side impact. The dashboard is ...

Advantages: Great fuel efficiency, makes driving enjoyable, cheap to run, easy to park, great style Disadvantages: Not suitable for families
move down a gear. The Brabus version also comes with F1 style pads on the steering wheel which can be used to change up and down gears. When you're in manual mode, there is no need to change gear downwards, as this is done automatically, and a small screen on the dashboard will recommend when you should change to a higher gear. Unlike normal manual cars, there is no need to take your foot off the accelerator to change gear.
A quick press of a button on the gear stick and you're in automatic mode. I normally drive in automatic; it works well and increases the fuel efficiency of the car. Gear changes are normally smooth, but it does help if you slightly ease off the accelerator as the gear change is happening.
The boot space is small, but perfectly adequate. Again, smart have been advertising the spaciousness of the car on TV where ...
Advantages: Good with nervous pupils, reasonable prices, discounts with block bookings Disadvantages: Only one instructor
Nearly a year ago now, I decided it was time to learn to drive. I'd had my provisional licence about six months before but never plucked up the courage to start lessons. It was nearly the summer holidays in uni, so I had plenty of time to learn, plus I'd saved most of my last instalment of my student loan - I was all set to go.
I picked up the Yellow Pages, and to my surprise, there were at least three pages full of driving schools in my area! Where to begin? Being an avid Internet kind of person, I set out looking for the schools with websites - my thoughts being that they must be modern if they have a website. I searched for a few days, but most of them were basic html pages that someone knocked together in five minutes with no information on them at all. Of course, BSM and AA were very impressive but seemed to be a little bit too ...
