As with GTA, Driver gives the player full freedom to go anywhere at anytime within the city boundaries. With Driver, one of the most hyped games of the year, developers GT have come up with a concept that will be a dream come true for many people, like me, who used to watch action films purely for the car chases. Ever since the immensely successful Grand Theft Auto demonstrated a couple of years ago how much people enjoy tearing through jam-packed cities at irresponsible speeds, a 3D version take on the concept was bound to appear.
As with GTA, Driver gives the player full freedom to go anywhere at anytime within the city boundaries. Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York have all been digitised with varying degrees of success, and at the very least you should be able to spot a host of landmarks in each one. The story involves an cop called Tanner (you) who goes undercover as a driver in the criminal underworld. You are given missions, from basic drops and getaway drives to ram-raiding and chasing down rival gang members. Whatever the assignment, the gameplay remains essentially the same throughout: drive fast, weave in and out of traffic, and avoid the cops.
And what gameplay it is. Driver is, initially, insanely addictive. Just messing about with the action-replay feature or the several different ?driving games? available from the options menu provides ample enjoyment, and the cities are big enough to make simply cruising around fun (although the cops, who attempt to ram into you without regard for the safety of themselves or others, make staying legal too strenuous). The look and feel of the game are based on cult seventies movies like Bullit and The Driver, so the cars you get to drive (and there are quite a few) are usually over-powerful and skid-tastic, providing unlimited potential for hair-rasing Miami Vice-style chases. However, the music is less funky that it should have been (put on some Lalo Schiffrin instead) and the retro-styled cut-scenes are, quite frankly, cack. The graphics are smooth and crisp, and don?t require the latest hardware, but the ?pop-up? effect of buildings in the distance spoils the effect a little.
Driver also has about it the foul stench of being originally a Playstation game: this means that it completely dispenses with any multiplayer options, and has about as much depth as an episode of Hollyoaks. Skidding around the terminally right-angled corners of the four similar looking cities isn?t as endlessly satisfying as it first appears. But the flipside is that it?s very easy to get into, polished, and most importantly of all: fun. Driver delivers on most of its promises, and those who like the idea are advised to go for it.
Advantages: Reasonable gameplay Disadvantages: Bores to easily
A nice concept but very poorley executed. YOU can only stay in the one car which gets exceptionally boring. I feel that it was an attempt at a 1st person game Grand Theft Auto. But the plot just isnst right, the game runs very jittery on certain 3dfx cards and the game itself gets boring almost instantly. The sounds are also very predictable and unvaired, with very unrealistic worlds.
To be perfectly honest there arent any plus sides to this game, ... ...a very limited output. The gameplay is monotonous more than anything else, being confined to one car, not just per level but per game means that after a certain amount of game play its like watching TV rather than playing the game you have so little effect on the game itself. I feel that all the complex 3d programming went to waste, the game itself is very high spec but just doesnt deliver.
A bad game. ...

Advantages: Novelly appealing initially Disadvantages: Repetitive, no sense of progression or achievement, unchallenging
At first play this game is very good. There's a definite appeal to chasing around the backstreets following the hit car. Unfortunately the appeal is 100% novelty, and as soon as you've played the game a few times you're never likely to touch it again. I've had the game quite a while now, and I did enjoy the first game I had, but I quickly began to lose interest as the game is simply not challenging, offers no sense of achievement or progression, ...

Advantages: Graphics and Gameplay Disadvantages: Could have more cars
...been centre of attention lately, Driver (£30). This is a really quality game for all of you that like a bit of speed, sound and graphics rolled to gather into a driving game. You can try you skills at getting way from these cops for the longest also racing. Drivers delivers the trills, spills and car chase action we've been waiting for and serves it all up with lashing of seventies funk. This game has the potential to be one of the best around. With ...

Advantages: great to play at any time Disadvantages: You might get bored
Driver for the P.C. is a great game with life like graphics. The game play is also top notch with great control and best of all carnage mode which is a small game in which you ram the other cars and score points. It’s quite hard to do the start of the undercover mode which is the main game. Which you have to do tasks to help the bad guys and if you get the car bashed up too much you fail and there are also other ways of failing but I ain’t going ...

Advantages: Break The Law Without Going to Jail, Great Gameplay, Superb Graphics Disadvantages: Superhuman AI Ruins Game, No Multiplayer, Unrealistic Cities, Idiotic Requirements
...things that was hyped about Driver was the city maps it'd use. They toted the presence of landmarks and realistic street plans. Well, the landmarks are there but their arranged within totally unrealistic maps. I guess it's unfair to expect true-to-life street grids, but it's still disappointing for them to be absent. Also, the scenery for the cities is the typical deal: repeat the same buildings over and over again. Boring.
- Patronizing: In order ... ...driving test. I've played Gran Turismo...no big deal. But it is a big deal because the test is basically impossible. Instead of having you practice techniques step-by-step as in Gran Turismo, they throw you into an unlit, underground garage and tell you to execute a half-dozen intricate maneuver in like two minutes. To compound this idiocy, you can't practice without a time limit. To compound this even further, you can't drive in New York and LA ...

I think the only game Rallisport Challenge Microsoft made you look damagenya realistic. But it turns out TOCA Race Driver is able to prove that comparable bus.
Graphics
Display graphics Codemaster made this game truly extraordinary, even though the only feature on the DirectX 8.1 (not Direct X 9), but all items must been in & detail. Pixel Shader effects are also of use in this game. Views damage this game you are truly amazing & realistic, I tertabrak car components can be detached and the flow on the road, sometimes even saking parahnya up to the door, fender, hood and engine quit. From behind the bonnet you apart itupun still visible engine detail. If you ignore the damage to the tire, the tire can be up-to exfoliate the car running with drag velg only. Advantages: Excellent Graphics, Great In Multiplayer. Disadvantages: hard to handle the cars, at first.
I decided i should write another Review/Opinion on this game, as i have just re-installed it on my pc, and just realised how much i missed it (sighs).
WHen you have installed it and start the game, you come to the Main Menu. I know there is a intro, but to be honest, i have never watched intros on any game, i know i am probably missing out, but i just want to play the game :).
So you are at the main menu, and you can now decide how to setup the game, as in graphics, sound, etc, it is best to see how good your computer is, and set it up accordingly, the better the game, the higher resolution of the graphics, and the better looking and faster the game will become.
So you have setup your graphics, and now it is time to set up the controller you are going to use. I would reccomend a Sidewinder as this has just about enough buttons ...
