Exchange data with the Jaz drive
Review of Iomega Jaz 2GB by jthesing

Advantages: Fast, robust
Disadvantages: Expensive

The Iomega Jaz drive is a good solution for those who want to exchange dynamic data from one computer to another. The Jaz drive is a fairly quick device. It is not as fast as a harddisk, but certainly quicker than a tape or a CD-ROM. You can use a Jaz disk as a booting device, which gives you the opportunity to work with several operating systems. Do not use a Jaz-disk as a permanent storage device. The disks are quite expensive and need to be refreshed ...
...CD is much more suitable. But for dynamically exchanging data a Jaz-drive is very nice. Disadvantage of the Jaz is its noise. The disk rotates at high speed in the Jaz-player that makes a high rustling sound. If the Jaz is in its standby state it is sometimes not approachable. You have to eject and insert it again to get access to the data. Another disadvantage is its price. If you want to use a Jaz drive for permanent storage of data, you better ... Read review

Enter the Gigafloppy
Review of SyQuest SyJet SyJet drive 1.5 GB by dobieg

Advantages: Now cheap, reasonable data volumes, easy to use
Disadvantages: new media hard to obtain, old technology

...I speak of the Syquest SyJet 1.5Gb removable disk drive. Nowadays, in a world obsessed by CD and DVD technology, it's easy to mock parallel port devices that present a 'virtual SCSI' interface to your PC or Mac, and use moderately expensive and highly obscure media - but these are still useful bits of kit to have around. Mention 'removable storage' and two names immediately spring to mind; Iomega with their ZIP drive and SyQuest. The SyJet 1.5Gb ...
...in the opening paragraph. The full kit comprises of a SCSI external disk drive, in a plastic enclosure which can stand vertically or horizontally on your desktop, a 'power brick' and a parallel to SCSI interface cable, and driver software. The removable disks consist of two circular platters mounted in a rigid plastic casing, around 1cm thick and just about the same size as a 3.5" floppy disk. The nominal capacity of this media is stated as 1.5Gb, ... Read review

Don't Bother
Review of Iomega Zip 750MB FireWire Starter Kit by DCB01

Advantages: secure, robust, fairly fast
Disadvantages: poor customer service

...media discs I noticed that Iomega were doing it for £30 Inc del. No problem I thought, so paid by credit card and noticed that it could only be sent to address on card which is fine if you are a business or at home all day. Anyhow the inevitable happened and a few days latter arrived home to find non del card on mat. Courier DHL were of no help even giving me wrong info regarding times of opening and worse still not knowing number of other depot ...
...depot. Which brings me to IOMEGA despite numerous emails (of which I only received one reply telling me email was sent to wrong dept! Funny that considering that’s the address that comes up on their web page) and phone calls to them they not only seem unable to sort their mess out but more worrying they appear to be uninterested in the farce that they have created. So my advice to anyone out there thinking about the whole loyalty crap is FORGET ... Read review
