Exchange data with the Jaz drive
Review of Iomega Jaz 2GB by jthesing

Advantages: Fast, robust
Disadvantages: Expensive

The Iomega Jaz drive is a good solution for those who want to exchange dynamic data from one computer to another. The Jaz drive is a fairly quick device. It is not as fast as a harddisk, but certainly quicker than a tape or a CD-ROM. You can use a Jaz disk as a booting device, which gives you the opportunity to work with several operating systems. Do not use a Jaz-disk as a permanent storage device. The disks are quite expensive and need to be refreshed ...
...CD is much more suitable. But for dynamically exchanging data a Jaz-drive is very nice. Disadvantage of the Jaz is its noise. The disk rotates at high speed in the Jaz-player that makes a high rustling sound. If the Jaz is in its standby state it is sometimes not approachable. You have to eject and insert it again to get access to the data. Another disadvantage is its price. If you want to use a Jaz drive for permanent storage of data, you better ... Read review

Peerless?
Review of Iomega Peerless Peerless drive 20 GB by raymie

Advantages: Size speed portable
Disadvantages: plastic expensive

Iomega released a new device a mid-end 2001. This is a USB or Firewire removable harddisk. The version I have is a USB one with a 20GB disk supplied as standard. There is also a firewire version and smaller disk sizes available. All in all the product behaves as I would expect. It is not as fast as a fixed hard disk, but is fine for general use. The unit comes in two components, the disk itself (and you could buy additional ones) and a cradle (the ...
...seems ok but being plastic cased I would not want to have it bashed around much, a fairly thick case is provided however for the disk itself (the disk is about 3 inches by 6 inches). The cradle again is plastic and has a bright blue 'button' style of light on it. Looks ok when it is on the go but the cradle is not exactly made from the best quality components and I suspect will not last more than a few years if you carry it about with you (it comes ... Samsung Drives - Thumbs definately up!
Review of Samsung Super-WriteMaster SH-S202J by Invader_Zim

Advantages: Fast, Quiet, Affordable
Disadvantages: none

...past. But I bought a Samsung drive (Super-WriteMaster SH-S202J) from www.ishift.co.uk and I must say that not only is it just as fast (20x) and I have seen no real difference in performance between the IDE or SATA drives as the Liteon and Pioneer drives but it is much much quieter! To be honest the whole build quality of the Samsung seems a lot better as well plus it came with the software I needed, unlike many of the Pioneer OEM drives I have bought. ... Read review
