Freecom Classic Trouble Free DVD Burning
Review of Freecom Classic CD-RW drive by
derek-j-a
Advantages: Hard Working and reliable. Can be moved from PC to PC
Disadvantages: Desk space needed because it's external.
I've owned my external Freecom CD RW for some time now, and it has given me excellent service, even though I have "hammered" it, burning DVD after DVD of years of stockpiled home video footage. Time after time, I have had great results with just one unsuccessful burn, but that was a faulty disk -which happens sometimes. When I first went in search of a DVD Re-writer, I was very tempted by getting an internal one to save desk-space and they were cheaper. ... ...slower on USB1}
The Freecom can also burn dual layer DVDs which means that, you can get almost double the amount of movies (i.e. up to 8.5GB) on one Dual Layer disk, but they do tend to cost a little more than the standard DVD disks. Another thing that is useful regarding this drive, is that using Nero (that was packaged with the drive), I can back up any computer file I wish to DVD and this gives me 4.7GB (that is 4,812.8 megabytes) of storage ...

Iomega CD-RW
Review of Iomega CD-RW CD-RW drive by
james564
Advantages: Can burn music, pictures and other data
Disadvantages: Quite Slow
This Iomega Rewriter is a good little piece of machinery, but it does takes it time when burning. Its supposed to take a few minutes to burn a music disc, although it took 20 minutes for an average length CD. ..:Installation:..
Installing the product will take the best part of 45minutes, it comes up with junk about not being compatatible with you operating system when it clearly is. Registering the product can be annoying as well because it asks ... ...Disc Label, You need an Iomega Disc Labeling machine for this feature, you can basically create your own label which the Labeler will place onto your cd.
..: Summary :..
This is a good rewriter, it also has good hardware included with it, but if you want CD's done quickly then you would better off looking for an alternative rewriter. ...

...good writing
Review of TDK CyClone CD-RW drive by
hammi
Advantages: read my opinion
Disadvantages: read my opinion
The TDK Cyclone 24x10x40 is a genuine professional in things burns. It is a pure Noname blank, which is also so cheap therefore. For only scarcely 1,5? it is to be had in each well sorted specialized trade. The blank is packed in a sturdy covering, which is much flat. There is this blank to buy however also now and then times with sickeren coverings. I find the thinner better, since one saves so half at place. The thicker ones are good for inscriptions ... ...a project and on the fast in an unsorted CD shelf wants to find it, one should seize to the thicker. I added myself so far 4 blanks of this mark. Since these are like crude cryable, custom one not so much many. There were not so far ever problems with burns. No losses, no errors with reading and/or writing or the like. One hardly sees a difference between a taped CD RW blank and a unplayed. With many one does not recognize it by the color of the ...

Excellent drive at the right price
Review of LiteOn LTC-48161 by
drTamseel
Advantages: Excellent, reliable, robust, good value for money
Disadvantages: None whatsoever
When I bought a LiteON drive three years ago I had never heard the name before except on some Internet stores. I was in London for some exams after which I went to Tottenham Court Road to look at a few CD-ReWriters (commonly known as CD-writers) before buying one. I had compiled some material in different formats for my exam and thought to bring it all together on a CD to help out colleagues in the future.
Due to my exams I didn’t have much time ... ...bracket. Although I was shown LiteON drives in a few shops priced between 40 and 50 GBP I wasn’t much interested despite their assurances that this was a good CD-ReWriter. However, one salesman who looked quite knowledgeable told me that Compaq were using LiteON drives in their PCs for quite some time and somehow I believed him. So I came home with a 40 speed CD-ReWriter which had a CD-R (write once CD), a CD-RW (re-writeable CD) and a software CD ...

FAST CD-RW drive won't break your budget
Review of Samsung SW 248 by
kamnet
Advantages: Very good "bang-for-buck"
Disadvantages: Basic software doesn't always work
...Halloween, I came across the Samsung SW-248F. For $44.97 the price couldn't be beaten. Even better, this is a 48x24x48 burner that lives up to the hype.
The recommended system for this is a Pentium II 400MHz or higher. BAH, BAH I SAY! The target system for this beauty was my whitebox Intel 233MHz system running Win98SE. The end result? Well, I'm not getting 48x burns out of it, but I don't delude myself. What I *do* get is consistant 12x-18x burns. ... ...cache buffer has meant that I haven't had one coaster yet. The directions to install the hardware are fairly straight-forward, and mounting screws are included (but not mounting brackets). 5-10 minutes max will get you going. The slight downside to this package is the bundled Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic and Direct CD. It works well, but, its basic. Good thing I've got a copy of CD Creator 5 Platinum, which is MUCH nicer. Overall I'm very satisfied ...
