Advantages: Perfect with dvd's
Disadvantages: major problem after using lightscribe

...never had any problems with asus products until now. Everything was working fine until I used the lightscribe function for the first time, now it absolutely refuses to recognise any cd, dvd's work perfectly, both reading and writing, but when a cd is loaded all the drive does is make a hell of a racket. The Asus DRW1608P is a lovely grey machine and looks just like it does in the picture. the speeds are as follows: 5 x DVD-RAM 8 x DVD+RW 6 x DVD-RW 8 x DVD +/-R (DL) 40 x CD-R 32 x CD-RW Does not lightscribe. It comes with firmware update and Nero Startsmart - although a license is required for full DVD burning capabilities. ...the drive vertically. Being Pioneer I imagine longevity is a given, at least here in my household they have an enviable reputation for reliability. I have never managed to break anything I have bought from them in the past. It doesn't seem to matter what quality of disc you present it with either, it just accepts any old tat.
