I have owned this lite-on drive for about six months now and its reliability is amazing.In that time I can honestly say I have only had five failures whilst using it. I bought it from a local retailer,quite cheaply as it has been superceded by a new model. What a doddle,it took longer for me to work how to take the side panel off the pc than it did to fit the device After removing the pc side panel and gauging just where this unit would fit also knocking out the false fromt facia.I slid the unit into position and secured it using the 4 screws provided. One of the best CD Player makers in the business. I have never had any problems with this make of CD Player since I have been using them. i have owned one of these for over 18months now, after my unbranded 24x drive gave up the ghost. i installed it, without the need for any drivers, just plugged it in, and once in windows, there it was. ive never had a problem with it, it reads all types of media, cdr, cdrw, black cd, normal cd, and as i said, i have never had a problem with it. i also know of two other people that own the exact same drive, and have also never had any problems, so ... ...to the ear, unfortunatly the AOpen 956E does not provide this, in my oppion the device is noisy and sounds like its ripping your disc appart, but if sound is not on your buying list this product is a good cheap alternative to other brands or as a replacement.
