Advantages: Fast Write speeds, wide compatibilty, 20 speed dvd writing and CHEAP
Disadvantages: Not any that i've experienced!!

I found this to be an excellent drive as i picked up one for around £30 and that was when it came out(last year, june). I think that this is an excellent drive for the fact it has a wide range of DVD and CD writing features; 20 speed writing, my favourite feature is the light scribe feature which allows you to design your own cd labels on a special 'lightscribe disc'. ...drives I bought my LiteOn SHOW-1633S about 8 months ago. During the first 5 or 6 months, I had no problems - the drive was very fast and stable. All my DVDs and CDs came out perfectly! I used various brands and the drive had no problem reading and writing them. However, the problems all started. I was burning a CD and suddenly it stopped. The drive wouldn't read or write any CDs in any of the operating systems I used, yet it would read the DVDs ...
...one for DVDs the other for CDs. What had happened was that the CD laser had broken, meaning I couldn't use any of my CDs. I promptly got the drive replaced, and the store sent me another. The same happened but with the DVD laser about 3 months later! I wouldn't recommend this drive to anyone, even when it was put through light use it failed. Disadvantages: Only comes in beige; No DVD-RAM writing (Read Only)

...the drive vertically. Being Pioneer I imagine longevity is a given, at least here in my household they have an enviable reputation for reliability. I have never managed to break anything I have bought from them in the past. It doesn't seem to matter what quality of disc you present it with either, it just accepts any old tat. Disadvantages: Doesn't work very well, slow, intermitently recognises disks, poor back up service, need I go on?

I ordered my Freecom DVD Recorder LS USB 2.0 after my CD/DVD drive packed up on my 15 month old HP Desktop. Although LG is not the leading names in both computer hard ware and software production but they have some thing really to offer in this their LG GGW multi blue precisely.
