My opinion and a review on Trimaxx 200
Review of Memorex Tri-MAXX 200 by MarcYerrell

Advantages: See the above report!
Disadvantages: See the above report!

The Trimaxx 200 is one of the first generation of combination rewriters and DVD drives. It is also available rebadged as the Ricoh MP9060a, but is still essentially the same product. A combination drive can now be had for virtually the same price as a separate CD writer and DVD drive, and has the advantage of freeing up a drive bay and an IDE channel. You can copy CDs (copyright permitting, naturally...), make safe back-ups of your data, and also ...
...is nice. The Trimaxx is not difficult to install. As the 24x speed for CD reading is relatively slow I'd recommend you install the combo as a secondary drive; if your existing CD-ROM is faster than 24x keep it as the master and simply set the Trimaxx jumpers to slave. This also means you have two CD drives for making back ups, of course! Pop the drive into a free bay, attach the IDE and power cables, and re-assemble your PC. Scratch head and wonder ... Memorex-cellent value 12x CD writer
Review of Memorex CD-RW drive by MikeWhalley

Advantages: Cheap and comparable to the more expensive Plextor
Disadvantages: Easy CD is maybe not as good as WinOnCD and support is vague

...this opinion about is the Memorex TwelveMaxx 1032. It is a 12 speed CD writer drive, which is also able to re-write at 10 speed and read at up to 32 speed (12x10x32). It has Burn-Proof technology, which I will not bore you with too many details about, as I've already explained it in reasonable detail in my Plextor opinion (titled 'Burn baby, burn'). Basically though, it means that with the use of a new CD Writer standard, cd's can be burned whilst ...
...okay for compatibility. The Memorex drive is easy to install, although the instructions and manual are a little sparce - in fact, they only explain the basics about installing the drive. Then again, I wouldn't advise anyone who hasn't fiddled a bit inside their PC before to install this, just incase you run into problems. I say this, because I tried to get the same model of drive to run properly at the place I work, but couldn't (although I didn't ... Read review

Pioneering price for an antique DVD
Review of Pioneer DVR-212D by suddenend

Advantages: Very, very cheap; SATA; Fast; Reads/Writes most DVD formats
Disadvantages: Only comes in beige; No DVD-RAM writing (Read Only)

...REVIEW I bought my Pioneer DVR-212D, a few days ago for just £11 inc. VAT, BRAND NEW, from eBuyer.com. I hope you agree that's an incredible price for a S-ATA DVD rewriter. I only really needed the Pioneer drive to aid in testing the functionality of another more current P-ATA DVD-RW drive that was exhibiting some very odd behaviour that I wasn't absolutely certain was the drive's fault, so I wasn't too fussy about it being highly specified. Having ...
...the drive vertically. Being Pioneer I imagine longevity is a given, at least here in my household they have an enviable reputation for reliability. I have never managed to break anything I have bought from them in the past. It doesn't seem to matter what quality of disc you present it with either, it just accepts any old tat. Even the really nasty 8x reject DVDs my local computer emporium tries to pass of as quality gear work in this drive, a welcome ... Read review

Freecome DVD RW Recorder USB 2.0
Review of Freecom DVD RW Recorder LS USB 2.0 by RMcCartyhy

Advantages: ummmmm
Disadvantages: Doesn't work very well, slow, intermitently recognises disks, poor back up service, need I go on?

I ordered my Freecom DVD Recorder LS USB 2.0 after my CD/DVD drive packed up on my 15 month old HP Desktop. I wanted it mainly to load CD ROM and burn DVD's from movies already converted to DVD format on my hard drive. Being that my PC had no disk drive I relied upon this external drive to load the bundled DVD burning software (Roxio 9). This took several days and many attempts. Then I tried burning my first DVD. After taking 3 hours to do a task ... Read review

THE LG DRIVE.
Review of LG GGW H20L Super Multi Blue by apatra

Advantages: PERFORMES WELL LIKE OTHERS.
Disadvantages: NOT A LEADING NAME IN HARDWARES AND SLOW

Although LG is not the leading names in both computer hard ware and software production but they have some thing really to offer in this their LG GGW multi blue precisely. The LG drive is capable of copying and reading information's as fast as it can and on the other hand the DVD play back. I got this specifically for writing and duplicating plates. CD writing has been a convenient stuff for me since I got this. I won't emphasize on the drive of ...
...THE DESIGN. The LG hard drive comes in a black square colour but short. Quite heavy and strong feel when touched. THE MAJOR FUNCTIONS. The specific functions of the LG device is for copying, DVD and other disk format play back. Not only that, the LG drive is also capable of storing some disk in formations comfortably. The read speed and the write speed have almost the same format of 40X speed. It is also capable of rewind DVD and so on. It has ... Read review
