My opinion and a review on Trimaxx 200
Review of Memorex Tri-MAXX 200 by
MarcYerrell
Advantages: See the above report!
Disadvantages: See the above report!
The Trimaxx 200 is one of the first generation of combination rewriters and DVD drives. It is also available rebadged as the Ricoh MP9060a, but is still essentially the same product. A combination drive can now be had for virtually the same price as a separate CD writer and DVD drive, and has the advantage of freeing up a drive bay and an IDE channel. You can copy CDs (copyright permitting, naturally...), make safe back-ups of your data, and also ... ...is nice.
The Trimaxx is not difficult to install. As the 24x speed for CD reading is relatively slow I'd recommend you install the combo as a secondary drive; if your existing CD-ROM is faster than 24x keep it as the master and simply set the Trimaxx jumpers to slave. This also means you have two CD drives for making back ups, of course!
Pop the drive into a free bay, attach the IDE and power cables, and re-assemble your PC. Scratch head and wonder ...

Memorex-cellent value 12x CD writer
Review of Memorex CD-RW drive by
MikeWhalley
Advantages: Cheap and comparable to the more expensive Plextor
Disadvantages: Easy CD is maybe not as good as WinOnCD and support is vague
...this opinion about is the Memorex TwelveMaxx 1032. It is a 12 speed CD writer drive, which is also able to re-write at 10 speed and read at up to 32 speed (12x10x32). It has Burn-Proof technology, which I will not bore you with too many details about, as I've already explained it in reasonable detail in my Plextor opinion (titled 'Burn baby, burn'). Basically though, it means that with the use of a new CD Writer standard, cd's can be burned whilst ... ...okay for compatibility.
The Memorex drive is easy to install, although the instructions and manual are a little sparce - in fact, they only explain the basics about installing the drive. Then again, I wouldn't advise anyone who hasn't fiddled a bit inside their PC before to install this, just incase you run into problems. I say this, because I tried to get the same model of drive to run properly at the place I work, but couldn't (although I didn't ...

Memorex Trimaxx200 DVD-CDRW
Review of Memorex CD-362E by
Trev1000
Advantages: Well price multi system
Disadvantages: Need a good graphic card with TV output
...all rolled into one. The Memorex Trimaxx 200 is a mid range product in the DVD/CD range and although the price may be fairly extravagant for some at a little over £200.00, I believe it was well worth it.The write capabilities are great at 6x because anything other than standard data just won't transfer safely above a 2x speed, and as for read i reckon 24x is more than fast enough for anything the software merchants throw at us, add to that the DVD ... ...to use it for watching films via my TV Set and Computer, the support team at Memorex gave me quality info by return email WITHIN 48 HOURS!

An excellent writer
Review of Memorex - CDRW-4420 by
jonwhite
Advantages: efficient, affordable
Disadvantages: slow re-write speed
Memorex have a reputation for quality and this shines through with their CD writer / re-writer the 4420. Purchased just over a year ago as a solution to my back-up requirements and for the production of CD Catalogues for clients this piece of hardware has been invaluable.
It is both fast and efficient. 32X4X2 are its speeds. The only drawback is that the re-write is a little slow and the disks take an age to format but once formatted shouldn't need ... ...with reading or writing even on budget priced media. The drive stands up well to all other use. It plays audio CD's without problem and runs software, again without error.
The product came bundled with Adaptec Easy CD Creator, Direct CD, MGI PhotoSuite and Take 2 (a back-up program).
Priced at £129 when I bought it I think it is excellent value for money. ...

You can definately tell when it's working...!
Review of Memorex BBQ 200 by
Jelicho
Advantages: Does the job, works with XP, good budget buy
Disadvantages: Big, noisy, tempremental...
...on eBay and bought this Memorex for £40. Chuffed with the price for what is concidered a reliable make of CD drivers/audio equipment, I didn't care that the speeds etc were a little pre-modern.
Of course, if you are looking for a good, fast, modern, and of course, attractive looking external CD-RW... don't bother with the BBQ200. For a start, the drive you'll want is probably £100 upwards and the BBQ200 is now old and none of the above. However, ... ...job 99% of the time, and are quite happy to sling it on your kid's computer without worry of it getting bashed about, this is ideal.
It's pointless using the drive just for reading CDs for two reasons: the BBQ200's fan is extremely noisy and it will upset the neighbours, drive the dog crazy and wake the baby. Plus it's only 6x, which is like using a Victorian horse-and-cart on tracks made for Japanese Bullet Trains. If you try installing big programs ...
