Great looking, sounding drum kit for fair price...
Review of Yamaha Stage Custom Drumkit by
stevedamouth
Advantages: Price, lacquered, looks great, sounds even better, easy to get hold of extra features
Disadvantages: Remo U2 head’s that come with the kit are disappointing, but you can’t have everything…
The Yamaha Stage custom is a very well built kit, which equally sounds and looks fantastic. To the advantage of the customer it ranges at a price a lot lower than your average Yamaha drum kit but still is of the original Yamaha quality. I have owned the Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage for a year now and I haven’t looked back once. I bought it as a 7 piece in a metallic green with hardware. It now also has Paiste Signature cymbals and a Pearl double ... ...added Remo Pinstripe to my Yamaha Stage Custom and they really do it justice. Once with good quality heads have been fixed that’s when you can really get the sound out of them, which you bought it for.
The type of sound, which you get with the original heads, is more of a jazz sound, but as your average rocker I prefer the deeper sounds, which come from Remo Pinstripe heads. With the U2 heads on the kit it gives a long sustained tangy sound, which ...

Pearl Forum
Review of Pearl Forum Drumkit by
RazzaLazza
Advantages: Great drum build.
Disadvantages: Will need extra spending on it in order to get it up to scratch.
The Pearl name is an established one within the drumming world, with many professionals choosing to use their kits. The Pearl Corporation was founded in 1946 in Tokyo, Japan and since then has grown in popularity, rising to be the household name within the drumming world that it is today. I'd say they are definitely among the best when it comes to quality, so when you see the Pearl name you can rest assured that the kit in question is well made and ... ...bean cans being hit. The Pearl Forum I feel is infinitely better than other starter kits on the market and looks fairly smart with it's black coating. Although I say black coating as this is the colour of mine, the Pearl Forum comes in a number of other colours including Deep Blue, Charcoal, and Red Wine.
For £500 your money will provide you with:
- 22x18 bass drum
- 12x9 & 13x10 mounted toms - 16x16 floor tom - 14x5.5 wood snare drum
- 14" hi-hats

V-Series
Review of Mapex Venus Plus Drumkit by
Arbobug
Advantages: Great sound, very nice looking
Disadvantages: Can be a little too quiet for recording or live gig purposes.
I've had my Mapex V Series drumkit for abou three years now and I'm still very happy with it! I heard the actual kit is designed to be more of a fusion kit that can't really be relied on for playing live gigs but I've played many a gig with it and it's one of my favourite kits to use.
Appearance
-----------------
The Mapex Venus drumkit comes in a wide range of colours. Mine is Midnight Blue, which suits the drumkit very well. It's a very shiny ... ...Drumheads
-----------------
The Mapex drumheads might be a little frustrating to some people, as you really need to tune them quite well. The slightest turn of the drum key can put these drums far too high pitched, and when you try to tune them lower, you don't get a note. When they are tuned well however, the Mapex drumheads aren't all that bad. The snare head is fine, and the toms can sounds quite melodic, or if you don't want them too, then ...

great kit for amatuers and semi pros alike
Review of Premier XPK Kits Drumkit by
grandleveller
Advantages: Great looking kit great sound
Disadvantages: standard hardware needs improving
...mention that i dont use premier skins i use remo weatherkings pinstrips i prefer the sound, anyway, once tuned these toms have a great sound, i find i have to use some dampening on all of them especially the floor tom but once it's all sorted the kit sounds as rockin as hell, each tom complements each other, there's no heavy over tones just a good thumpin rock sound, the quality maynot be of the Signia or other top professional kits but hey your ... ...the London Astoria with my Premier XPK kit and it never looked or sounded cheap..... it has a very top quality feel and sound about it without the high price. You may have to spend time tunning and dampening it but hey it's worth it.
Basically quality drums with quality sound at a quite remarkably low price tag. You can't ask for much more than that. ...

Yamaha DTX Series.
Review of Yamaha Electronic Kits Drumkit by
HxCHarry
Advantages: Cheaper than competitors, cheaper repairs e.t.c
Disadvantages: Not as up to date as Roland V Drums.
...speaks quite highly for the Yamaha DTX range that a discontinued second hand product I bought for £250 off ebay is quite simply, a great model for alot of user groups.
Yamaha DTX drums are cheaper than rolands, their current entry level model being sold at about £450 pounds as a 5 piece. Compared to Rolands entry level which is £600 for a 4 piece.
You might not get all the fancy items as the Roland but that doesn't make the DTX series any less ... ...costs £40. (Less than most yamaha basic kick pedals) and it can work with a double bass pedal.
They are really great drums, and great for the price. Don't let Rolands few advances turn you completely off Yamaha. If you don't need to be able to set your cymbals to a 40inch ride. Then give Yamaha a shot and save yourself alot! ...
