I always wanted a Dualit toaster, ever since I saw them first in Canada in 1999 priced $399! I bought one for my sister for her birthday last year, and she kindly returned the favour and bought me one for Christmas. I have the 2 slot combi, no bells or whistles, in pillar box red (not a colour I would have chosen myself, but it looks fab in my kitchen and all my friends are obviously jealous!).

What can I say. This is the KING of toasters. Used by professionals, cafe's, caterers you name it the world over. Dualit have been around for years, making toasters originally in the UK. Its nice to have something so solid, so well made and guaranteed to make the best toast out of even the worst cheap plastic bread.

You put the toast in, turn the dial (this is a mechanical timer, which you can set manually), raise the lever (this lowers the bread into the toaster) and wait....

If you smack the lever down quite hard once it is finished, the toast flies out of the top and you can have circus toast ( I like to amuse myself with this sort of thing of a morning).

These toasters do not pop up like all the other toasters. This means that once the toast is done, the toast remains near the elements. Also the elements are designed in such a way as to provide consistent heat distribution - in this way it is very hard to burn your toast - what you end up with is nice warm toast every time.

Dualit toasters come in a range of colours, you can even get a Union Jack one if you are a bit patriotic. Recently they have started selling special edition Dualit Marmite branded toasters.

I can't explain why, but the toast from this toaster tastes soooo much better than with other toasters. This is probably becuase initially these machines were destined for the commercial rather than domestic market. According to my instruction manual, my toaster can make up to 60 slices per hour. Even that's a bit much for me- but it gives a good indication of the shelf life of this product.

They are more expensive than other toasters, granted, but Im sure that I'll never have to buy another toaster again.
