Advantages Looks great, Fast Boil,

Disadvantages Poor Quality Build, Not Value for Money

I bought this kettle to match my Dualit toaster reviewed previously. I was delighted with the build quality of the toaster so after paying around twice the price of a normal kettle, I expected the same, but Oh Boy was I wrong.

Available in Black, Cream, Light Blue Red & Barbie Pink (Why !) Made from polished stainless steel and is fitted with heatproof coloured handles. This Cordless Jug Kettle is fitted with a lime-scale filter & a water level indicator on both sides. This kettle boasts a concealed element so there is less build-up of lime scale which is a huge befit for me as I live in a hard water area.

The advertising claims a Rapid boil feature but it takes 3 full minutes to boil one litre of water (about three cups) which is more time than my previous kettle that made no such claim. Additionally the design of the kettle makes it cool down very quickly as the polished stainless steel casing is both a good conductor & convector of heat (that's physics that is). With a Capacity of 1.5 litres, it holds a less water than the said previous kettle, which is bad news when my wife has her "Coffee Mornings"

The thing that really let this item down though is the atrocious build quality though. The whole thing is very plasticy & my particular example had rough edges on the plastic that I had to file down. This plastic is a very poor fit to the main body & even after a few weeks, use is looking a bit tiered. Additionally the on switch has to be treated with care for fear of it falling off, not at all what I would expect after paying almost £50.

I do not recommend this product at all, it's overpriced, lacks build quality & there are certainly better products out there. In my mid this company is simply cashing in on the success of their toaster range.

So pleased I read your review. I spent most of yesterday looking for the best price on one of these kettles - cheapest I found was around the £55 mark, they are available in an internet auction site, but by the time you add on postage they're still about £50 - £55. Given your poor experience I think now I will go and inspect one closely before deciding whether to purchase, or not.Thank you.
