Living with a 748 everyday
Advantages: stunning looks, feel, brakes and grunt Disadvantages: Its crashed and I need a new one
...years to get my own Ducati I wasn't going to be disappointed. Doing the usual getting the 125, 400 it was time to step up. Ducati Manchester was the place I found a Second hand 748. Insurance was the main reason for the 748 not the 916ect I wanted a stretch as it was. Being used to biking on a budget previously a Honda VFR400 in less than perfect condition, the mint 748 was amazing. The increased power was obvious on that first ride home and the ... ...all smooth sailing with a Ducati tho as I found out. Within a week after couple of stalls and bump starts then rear wheel lock up I found mine had a faulty alternator. This was an easy fixed problem under the warranty. I never bought this bike as a second bike or a toy this was to be my main transport to work 5 days a week and to play on at weekends. Given the reliability questions over Ducati's a risky buy perhaps? As it turned out it wasn't. Putting ...

Best of the breed
Advantages: look, feeling, handling Disadvantages: noise, vibrations...if you can call it disadvantages
...cluch cover , possibly from Ducati corse, gives bike a personal touch. The front section remembers 70's 80's bikes.
**riding**
You turn the bike on,the fun start. just listening to the noise makes you feel happy. You can feel quite some vibration on the handlebar, but you will forget them as soon as you start your ride. The position on the bike is very confortable for me, i can have both feet safely on the ground when i stop, and all comands/lever ... ...what you want to do is...meet that friend of yours that just bought the latest Jap that goes 200mp/h, sound like a Philipshave razor, and cost like a small flat. And you want to meet him on a curvy road, or in town, or...on the track. This Duke, has a more power anyone will ever need on open roads, but his strenght are the frame, the power delivery and the brakes.Basically with this bike you can brake later, open the gas throttle earlier and go around ...

Paso 906
Advantages: Handling, sound Looks Disadvantages: Electrics 16" Tyres
I have owned my 1988 Paso since 1998
and it is normally on the road all year round
Until recently I have had no problems and find it an excellent bike for the Mid Wales roads where I live
The Fully faired bodywork is very easy to clean and I suppose that this means that underneath it is a pig
The Frame is rather strange looking as it is a perimiter frame made up of square section tubing (as is my cagiva Elefant of the same vintage)
Regularly ...

Oh really...that fast officer
Advantages: Super cool and sexy Disadvantages: How Much!!
...permitted of course ;).
Ducati really have plastered this bike with carbon fibre as well with the lower fairing, tail piece, bellypan, airbox, chain guard, front and rear mudguards, exhaust heat guards, underseat heat shield all made from it. That means this bike is much lighter than previous versions, combined with the tubular steel chassis it makes for a very exhilarating ride, lean it as far as you dare.
But unfortunately all this Italian mastery ... ...ones are quite rare at the moment.
It’s a bit thirsty added to the high premiums this really is a bike for the less modestly funded biker to say the least.
However, it certainly is the Italian stallion of the bike world and I believe there are some special racing editions available now, lovely. My verdict is expensive, exhilarating and entertaining. Keep an eye for more on the ownership costs coming soon ...
