Recently had a contract up in London for new apartments. Most the apartments the tenants had a choice of either Symphony kitchens or Moore’s Kitchens, but for the top apartment, you know the Bling Bling one, well the client insisted that they wanted a Magnet Kitchen because they had seen an advert and liked a particular range. Well we agreed this was ok as they were spending allot of money as an extra for this.
The range that the client went for was the Oslo Combination range. The main styling features of Oslo is the contrast of plain woodgrain effect cupboard doors with bright steel handles. It really has a clean and simplistic design that really lends itself to variety of finishes. The options for the woodgrain effect range from rich ocean green, cool turquoise and warm vanilla. We also had the option of mixing maple effect cabinets into the kitchen plan. As the client put it he wanted to create an individual and unique design.
The options on the worktops was outstanding, we could offer the client the option of having:-
• Corian • Granite • Solid Wood
The choice of surface's can have a big impact on the kitchen. A granite worktop surface on pine furniture give's the image that you are a country place. Thankfully the client didn’t go for this because the rest of the building was surrounded by glass wall finishing’s and was 14 storey's high.
The client did go for the granite worktop though, which gives you a rich, lustrous and polished to perfection effect. The stone is solid, hardwearing and extremely practical and looks absolutely stunning.
The accessories the client went for were unlimited. Starting with the sink we went for a stainless steel Frnke Range EUX621 which is very big comes with a waste disposal unit and ranges in price at about £750.00. Oh well how the other half live.
Next on the list was taps, no expense spared here, went for a Troon range tap Gold / Chrome effect, very nice. The Oven was a Smeg A2 Opera very big, Six gas hob, main oven had a capacity for 50 litres with an auxiliary oven that held 25 litres. The microwave was a Neff H7860 combination microwave with 12 programme settings. The cooker hood was made by Smeg and I can’t remember much about it apart from it was very big and cost allot.
The fridge and the freezer were provided by the client as they wanted to use their existing. Magnet pride themselves on quality kitchens and their motto is "Designed for living, Build for life", and we haven’t had any problems with the kitchen range bought and that was 14 months ago.
The walls around were mostly all frosted glass effect but behind some of the kitchen units the main structure wall were painted gloss white with patten designs added on. The painting didnt take very long to set and dried very quickly. We used a Dulux White Gloss finish.
