a story of someone who had made himself a millionaire and decided to do the same himself. Five years later he had done it and now he is worth 168 million. In this remarkable book Bannatyne relives his colourful path to riches explaining how anyone could take the same route as he did - if they really want to. In the book we see how he started out as an ice cream salesman and built up that business before moving on to other areas. Hugely articulate and with numerous fascinating and revealing stories to tell this is an autobiography and a business book unlike any other - but then Bannatyne isn't like any other businessman either.

Advantages: Entertaining, easy read, wide coverage on individual's life Disadvantages: Certain stages of life over elaborated on
...If your aim in picking up this book is to encounter a full on, detailed account, purely focused on business encounters then this book is probably not the correct one for you. However, if you would like to gain a good understanding behind the facade that Bannatyne portrays on the BBC's Dragon's Den programme then this will turn out to be a very good read indeed.
The content within spans from Bannatyne's childhood to his current involvement as an angel investor. The personality revealed ranges from a rebellious youth within the navy to a very compassionate man concerned with the welfare of children in Romania. Advantages: Excellent Read, Funny and Sad, but wrote in a fantastic way. Disadvantages: Book not long enough
...After watching Dragon's Den I thought Duncan was very rude, however after reading his latest book I see him in a different light and to be honest I think the guy is great. Coming from Glasgow and having a very poor lifestyle Duncan talks about his life from the troubles he had at school to joining the navy and life on HMS Eagle, the funny bit is when he got an dishonourably discharge for attempting to throw his commanding officer overboard. While he was on the dole he talks about how he travelled over parts of the UK and Jersey doing odd jobs and making ends meet. There are lots of laughter in this book and also times of sadness especially when Duncan lost his sister Helen in 1972 from suspected DVT.
By the time yoou have read this book you just want to get hold of Duncan and cuddle him....

Bannatyne is a highly motivated and hard working man with a natural business mind who is driven by desire to succeed. I cannot think of anyone who deserves the success Bannatyne has earned more than himself. He has truly earned everything he has today and I...
