I had seen the Dune shop in my local shopping centre many many times but had never even been tempted to look in there as all I had seen in the window was smart black leather shoes. I already have a comfortable pair of these which I hardly ever use so, as far as I'm concerned, there really was no need for me to take a look at what was on offer. One day late last year, however, I was walking past the store and a nice pair of brown casual shoe-come-trainers caught my attention. They were so different to anything I had ever seen elsewhere. I've got no problem admitting that I have a problem when it comes to footwear. I like anything I put on my feet to look clean and fresh. I've lost count of the pairs of shoes I've stopped wearing because of a scuff mark that most people probably wouldn't even notice. I tell you this to illustrate how strict my criteria are when it comes to buying shoes. If something does not meet my standards there is no way I will be taking them home.
I went into the store, found the shoes and asked a member of staff to get me a size ten so that I could try them on. It was fairly busy in the shop (it was a saturday afternoon after all) but I was served quickly and the salesperson had all the time in the world for me. She was friendly and helpful without being overbearing or pushy. She had just the right balance of customer care. Impressive.
The shoes themselves were extraordinarily comfortable. Suitably impressed I passed them back to the salesperson and said that I wanted them. She told me that they would be waiting for me at the tillpoint and asked if I needed anything else.
There was a small queue at the tills but I was served quickly and without any problems at all. The cashier took my payment, gave me my shoes and bid me farewell.
I was impressed by the customer service throughout my shopping experience at Dune. The shoes still look incredibly fresh, are in excellent condition and are still as comfortable as the day I bought them (I have them on right now ironically). The shoes in Dune are by no means cheap (mine were £60) but they are more than worth it.
