HORRIBLE experience yesterday in Perth branch, caused mainly by a clearly inadequate and inexperienced Assistant Manager who was unable/unwilling to use a little bit of common sense and initiative.

I took teal, diamante curtains that were perfectly good quality but just the wrong colour so therefore unsutable back in same condition as bought - as specified on returns policy, fully expecting to be refunded by same means of purchase - as specified on returns policy...Easy? Not quite! My signature on debit card was not very clear as its a few years old now so asked by Assistant Manager if I had my passport on me?!?! Obviously due to the fact I'm due a baby soon I had no plans to be hopping on a plane that day I did not have this on me, however I did have a purse FULL of I.D ranging from NHS cards, Travel Cards, Gym Card (some even photographic)and the card I wanted the refund on was clearly the same card as I had made the purchase with in the first place! However was told my this person who has surely been placed in a position of authority because someone somewhere thought she could take on the challenge of this role that unless I had a passport or driving license I could not have refund (I don't even drive). When I tried to explain that as a Retail Manager myself in the past I know about 'Company Policies' but as a member of the management team you surely have to use these along with a degree of flexibility when something is clearly obvious, she replied rudely she did not need to know what I did for work in the past! - with this it became aparent this was not about 'company policy'or her thinking I was trying to commit fraud but merely a power trip for her (this was also the opinion of a couple waiting behind us in queue). I therefore now feel absolutely disgusted by the service i have recieved and it has really put me off going into a store where i have enjoyed shopping in the past. I will dig out my passport and get my refund but i will be quite reluctant to spend money in this store again!! Funnily enough they are not so 'vigilant' when taking the money from you - I wonder why?
