Advantages: GOOD RIDE Disadvantages: WEAKNESS IN STRAIGHT LINE
...I HAVE FITTED THESE TYRES TO MY RENAULT MEGANE 6 MONTHS AGO. ORIGINALLY THEY WERE MICHELINS AND THEY LASTED 35,000MILES FOR THE FRONT AND 50,000MILES FOR THE REAR. I DRIVE OVER 1,000MILES A WEEK ON OVER 80% ON MOTORWAY. I FIND THESE DUNLOP TYRES WEARS SLIGHTLY QICKER THAN THE ORIGINAL MICHELINS. I HAVE COVERED 28,000 MILES SO FAR AND THE FRONT ARE ON THE LIMIT. I WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT SET WITHIN THE NEXT 1,000 MILES.
I HAVE ALSO FOUND OUT FROM THE DAY ONE THAT ON THE FAST DRIVING THESE SETS OF TYRES ARE NOT VERY GOOD IN STRAIGHT LINE DRIVING. IT DOES NOT LIKE TO DRIVE STABLE STRAIGHT LINE THEREFORE IT MAKES DRIVING A LITTLE MORE TIRING. THE RIDE IS SLIGHTLY SOFTER THAN THE MICHELIN AS WELL.
OVERALL I DOUBT I WILL BUY ANOTHER SET OF THESE DUNLOP TYRES....

Advantages: Range of compounds available, good grip in a straight line, cheap Disadvantages: Poor durability and poor cornering grip
...I've had D208s on two bikes, a Honda VTR1000F Firestorm and a Triumph T595 Daytona. Both had the standard D208, not the RR or the SP versions of the tyre.
The Honda came with the Dunlop as standard fitment from new in a 180 section, the Triumph had a 190 section put on briefly as an aftermarket supplied item. The Honda got through three and a half pairs, the Triumph just the one. Before anyone asks why I kept the standard ones there were two reasons, firstly the tyre shop recommended them for the VTR, secondly they never wore out as a pair, the front lasting about 1/3 longer than the rear. I only change brand as a pair and the front was always too good to just bin.
For me there are three categories of factors when judging a bike tyre:
------------------------
Cost
------------------------
The Dunlop has a bit of a split...

Advantages: Plenty of grip. Disadvantages: Not cheap, safety never is.
...) prefer to change two at a time.
These tyres seem to be as good if not better than Goodyear, Pirelli, or Dunlop, although this is of course my own opinion. They do seem to grip better in the wet than quite a few of the others, and in my opinion this is one ofthe times when you really need the maximum grip.
I know very little about "designer tread patterns" that a lot of tyres tend to have, but these look sort of old fashioned solid chunky tyres, not only when they are brand new, but after a lot of wear, whereas some "cool" patterns look like they are going bald after a few thousand miles, this is because some of the treas is only a few millimetres deep, or even less.
My tyres, which are fitted to alloy wheels, look perfect. A lot of tyres nowadays have a "direction of rotation" on them these don't.. Also, have you got any idea what...
