***THE TEST - DURACELL V EVERREADY***
SATURDAY:
As it's almost Christmas I decided to use two sets of battery operated lights (cost £2 a set from Au Naturale). They are powered using 2 AA batteries.
Thankfully I had unopened packets of both Duracell batteries (£4.50 for a pack of 4) and Everready batteries (£3.75 for a pack of 4) so setting up the test wasn't too difficult.
On a quiet weekend whilst watching the telly the Durcell advert came on where the bunnies were doing a bit of rock climbing and only the bunny with the duracell batteries made it to the top (whilst carrying the other bunnies who had inferior batteries).

So I popped down to the shops to buy a couple of bunnies...... only joking. Looking around my house I tried to find two similar battery run items that I could use to test the batteries.
I inserted the batteries and simultaneously switched them on. Ooooooooh, pretty lights!!!!! I check the time - 1:45pm.
Having used these lights the previous year, I estimated that they should easily run for 24 hours if left switched on continuously. So although the excitement was almost too much to bear I left the lights to do their thing (looking pretty) and I went back to watching telly.
Around 11 hours later I couldn't resist checking up on the lights.................... and they were still going strong. There didn't seem to be any difference in strength of light emitted from the two sets. No excitement there then! I toddled off to bed.
SUNDAY:
Early in the morning (7am) I awake and dash downstairs to check out my lights..... would they still be merrily lit or would one set have gone out?
(Dramatic music - dah, dah, daaaahhhhhhh) one set is very noticeably dimmer than the other. I purposely didn't label them so I wouldn't know which set had which batteries just to add to the excitement.
The lights have now been switched on for almost 18 hours - one set is still going strong and the other is dramatically starting to fade. I leave them for another few hours popping back every now and again to check one hasn't gone out completely.
12:30pm - one set of lights has given up. The others are looking dimmer but appear to be a long way from going out.
I decided to see how long the other set will last - will they be the Duracell ones? Read on to find out........
SUNDAY NIGHT/MONDAY MORNING:
It's 12am and I am just on my way to bed when I notice that the other set of lights have practically faded to nothing. So the test is over. Which batteries won?
***THE RESULT***
Set 1 - which ran out after almost 24 hours - these were the Everready batteries
Set 2 - lasted for around 34 hours which is a whopping 10 hours longer than the Everready.
So there you have it. I have scientifically proved that Duracell batteries do last longer than other batteries.

Review of Duracell MN 1500 - Battery AA type Alkaline
Advantages: Long lasting Disadvantages: None at all!
...pack of these four AA Duracell Long Lasting Power batteries from Asda, and they set me back £2.85. I thought that this was a reasonable prce for batteries that will work many appliances around the home. The most I have seen these batteries for is around £3.60. I do think I got a deal for these four batteries.
I have seen batteries from other manufacturers, and supermarket's own brands. I think that Duracell are a good brand and I have noticed that ... ...my digital camera, but the duracell batteries last me a few days. In the cardboard pack are four average sized AA batteries. They are cylinder shape of course, and fit nicely in this little pack. They do not take up too much space in a bag or pocket, so would be fine to carry in a bag without trouble. The new colour coding of Duracell batteries has become popular. As al the lettered batteries like AA, and AAA, C, D, 9V, etc, Duracell has made it ...

Advantages: Very long lasting Disadvantages: A little large than the average AA battery
Duracell batteries do last a very, very long time. This is probably a somewhat rare example of a product doing what the advert says it does! Last for ages longer than any normal battery!
But that is, of course, a point to consider. Duracell lasts much longer than an ordinary battery, but does it last much longer than other Alkaline batteries made by other equally reputable firms for a little less money? Perhaps not. However, for the jobs that I ... ...rechargeable batteries are unsuitable.
Duracell do have a handy battery tester built in to the battery so you can tell exactly how much power the battery has left, which was a good, innovative idea and which still helps Duracell stay ahead of the rest of the field.
One minor niggle is that, in my experience, Duracell batteries always seem to tend to be a very tiny amount larger than other batteries in that particular category. So with some very ...

Advantages: Great Power, Long Lasting Disadvantages: Expensive
...use this, I have only Duracell batteries at my place due to their almost everlasting life. What’s the point of buying cheap batteries that die and get that angry look on your face in no time?
Lets say for a simple application like a Discman, I was on vacation and had two Duracell spares in my pocket, the Discman also contained two, now I was on a week long vacation and I used my Discman pretty generously not to mention all the music we used to hear ... ...didn’t need to do any such thing, not to mention I had 2 spares in my pocket.
You can expect to pay as little as £2.00 for a two pack or £3.40 for a Duracell MN 1500.
Rest assured, you won’t need refills for a long time to come. ...

Advantages: Shockingly great battery life!!!!!!!! Disadvantages: Not a single one!!!!
Not much to say about a battery however this one is something special. Duracel are the leading brand of battery in the UK and they never cease to impress.
They have managed to cram so much power into this little thing that you barely need to replace them. A prime example of this is my remote control in my house, i hadn't changed its batteries for over 2 years and only today did they run out which is the reason i have wrote this review - because i was so impressed by its life span.
Additionally like most modern day batteries it has never leaked, it is non toxic - incase it were to come into contact with any children and of course it is reasonably priced.
Although slightly strange - easily my favourite battery of all time!!! ...
