At £3.99 Duracell AA batteries are certainly not the cheapest on the market. The type of battery you require will depend on what it is going to be used for. For high spec things like cameras you’re going to need a decent quality battery, whilst a small radio could probably last ages on a cheapo from the pound shop. Whilst I not a great believer in “you get what you pay for” as a rule, I am inclined at least this time to believe the statement might apply.
I have many electrical items around the house, which need batteries, and most work well and for a reasonable time on the lesser-known and cheaper brands. For my digital camera however these seem to be done before I’ve taken 20 shots especially if I require using the flash.
I’m guessing most will be familiar with Duracell as a brand, but for those not so the batteries have a very distinctive black and gold design. The third top of each battery is gold in colour whilst the remang two thirds at the bottom of the battery are black.Duracell introduced the battery checker to a lot of their products a few years back and it is a thing I have found very useful. By pressing the top of the battery and the small white dot located at the bottom a small narrow bar on one side of the battery will indicate the power left in each cell. This is shown by a yellow bar moving along from one end to the other, the further it goes the more power the battery retains.
The manufacturers claim Duracell batteries outlast others by 6 to 1, but I have of yet to actually get this figure, I can say pretty confidently that 4 to 1 is more likely, in any event they certainly do outlast other types of battery. All in all Duracell are most definitely the best battery you can buy for all those pieces of kit we all have that require AA AAA batteries. If you use and ordinary battery and it runs out quickly then you know you are using a high drain piece of equipment and in this situation I would recommend using the Duracell instead, you will definitely see the difference and probably still works out cheaper than buying several cheap packs and be changing them al the time. If Carlsberg made batteries…………………
