Condoms are maybe not the best contraception for a long term relationship, but I didn’t fancy an indefinite period of celibacy while hubby and myself mulled over the pro’s and con’s of a more appropriate and permanent method to use. So, in the name of research we’re working through the Ciao categories, and here, for your perusal is condom op no.7 - Durex Comfort.
The first impression I must say was not good. The purple wrapper was covered in writing, but sadly my linguistic skills didn’t rise to the challenge of translating this.... “Si se usan apropiadamentes los condones de latex, pueden ayudar a reducir el riesgo de contagio por VIH (SIDA) y otras enfermedades transmitidas sexualmente.” That aside, the foil wrapper was easy to tear, and the condom came out of the packaging easily.
Second impression, it was very thin. Durex Comfort are classed as transparent in colour and they sure are that. Clear, thin, teat ended, and just lightly lubricated so it was incredibly easy to handle. This is a definite plus compared to some of the Durex range which for various reasons are more heavily lubricated - they can be quite tricky to keep hold of.
The third impression I got was that the size and shape of this condom wasn’t standard. I had heard that these were specially shaped and a bit larger than the majority of the Durex range and had to make a mental note (see, I haven’t gone as far as to take written notes yet) to check at the Durex website for the vital stats of this specific model compared to the others.
The fourth impression was encouraging. Due to the special shape at the teat end, it was really easy to work out which way the condom was to be unravelled. Being only lightly lubricated (with a non-spermicidal lubricant), it was easy to keep a firm hold on, and it rolled down the full length without any difficulty at all.
My fifth impression was that hubby no longer has an issue with our sex life being detailed here on Ciao. As I was about to engage in some serious road testing he declared “You’ve forgotten the taste test.” Oops! This condom actually did very well. Although I wouldn’t recommend it for oral activity due to it’s extremely thin nature, in terms of smell and taste it passed with flying colours. Amazingly, despite it being latex, there was not any unpleasantness.
* [Just for the record, to Peter who commented on one of my previous condom ops about oral sex with a condom being like eating a banana with the skin on... "Comment by petersmyth1 (20.06.2001 18:41) Wigggggly oral sex with condoms, do you eat bananas with their coats on?" ...in the name of research I would happily (?) try a banana with the skin still on! And the comment about chewing on an elastic band... I guess I'd do that too if need be!] *
Okay, back to business, the sixth, and most fun impression - feel during sex. Great on both accounts. I think the intention of the special shape and extra size of this condom is actually to benefit the wearer more than the receiver, to make it more comfortable, hence the name. But, not only did hubby find it very enjoyable “Doesn’t feel like there’s anything there” I too found that it hit the spot just right! The condom kept in place, and there was no irritation experienced by either of us.
Made from hypo-allergenic natural rubber latex, it’s still possible some users may suffer a reaction with these condoms, so if you experience any discomfort stop using them and seek an alternative (Durex Avanti perhaps, as they are made from polyurethane, but I can’t give a full rundown, as I haven’t tried them yet).
Durex Comfort are available online from pharmacy2u.co.uk at £2 for a 3pk or £7 for a 12pk (exc p&p) or durex.com (UK pages only) at £5.69 for a 6pk or £9.99 for a 12pk (exc p&p). The Durex website is worth taking a look at as they have freebie offers available sometimes, that’s how I got mine. (In case you’re concerned, they come in a plain brown envelope so nobody will know!!!).
* [Recalling mental note about size comparisons... (“All measurements are nominal and at lay flat width“) Durex comfort are 205mm in length, and vary from 63mm to 52mm across. The majority of other Durex condoms are a standard 178mm by 52mm] *
So would I recommend Durex Comfort to you? Yes, without a doubt I would have no hesitation at all. The only reason they do not get a full 5 star rating is due to the foreign writing on the foil packet. Despite the enclosed leaflet (which of course you should read) having full English instructions, anything printed on the wrapper itself should (I feel) be in the language of the country in which it is being sold.
Advantages: They were free. but they are good too Disadvantages: None that I can see
Sorry about the title, but it's true. I logged onto a certian Durex-related website, and found that they had a tendency to offer free comfort condoms on a Thursday. "Hmmm" I said to myself, and quickly filled in my details. 3 days later, I received, in a plain brown envelope, a pack of 3 "durex comfort" condoms. Fantastic.
I would say, from a woman's point of view, that they are absolutely fine, although, using condoms as my only method of birth ... ...worry, but still OK.
My boyfriend is always complaining that "normal" condoms are a little tight (ooh err), and he found these to be perfectly confortable, also allowing a decent amount of feeling for both parties.
Added to this....they don't smell and they don't feel like Tesco carrier bags (like other brands can) either.
I can't speak for those who are unfortunate to have sensitive skin, al I can say is that they didn't irritate me!
Reliability-wise, ...

...yet isn't too tight.
Durex comfort is the third and final condom I researched in trying to find a large condom - but I can quickly tell you the main difference with the comfort is merely that it has slightly more headroom than average, and thats about all!
I guess anyone used to using a standard size condom may want to give it a try (it may indeed be more "comfortable" for such guys), but any man needing either a "snug" fit or a "large/wide" fit ... ...I've posted on Durex Avanti and on Trojan Magnum/Large - the only other condoms I looked at. Each has advantages, so after reading the other posts I suppose at the end of the day we guys really need to try a range of condoms in order to find that brand which is indeed most "comfortable" for each individual.

This is possibly going to be a bit of a weird situation a woman reviewing a condom but after 8 years of marriage i think i know my hubbies private parts a lot better than he does.
After deciding that two children for the time being is definately enough we had to think about birth controll, i have tryed the contraceptive injection with horendus side effects and not had much look with the contraceptive pill either so decided condoms were the way to ... ...have tryed a wide variety of different brands and different makes but kept finding the same problems, they are all very thick which for me was not a problem at all but for hubby it took a lot of the sensation away so we were looking for something thinner and found these, they are a lot thinner than most condoms but that doesnt mean that they will split easier, we havent had any dsasters with them so far and have been using them for some months now, ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Durex Comfort"
Advantages: Well known brand, cheaper end of the range (£2.50ish for a 3 pack), protection against disease and pregnancy Disadvantages: Tricky to get on, prone to slipping
Pale pink colour, shaped for extra comfort. Durex extra safe are made from natural latex rubber, with spermicidal lubricant, effective in preventing against pregnancy and disease.
I wouldn’t recommend these. Compared to others (Durex Select)
these are tricky to use. Very heavily lubricated, they are extremely slippery to hold and getting them in place is difficult.
A looser fit than others in the Durex range, although maybe more comfortable for the wearer, I really wasn’t too confident in them remaining in place, therefore sex was less pleasurable due to worry.

Advantages: They're ultra sensitive Disadvantages: Might be a bit of a problem for men who are 'blessed'
in the bin, and watch out for any spillages. Sperm know their mission in life and are single minded creatures who'll stop at nothing.
Durexes Avanti and comfort are also high standard condoms that fit a bit better than these, but fetherlite are still very good and definitely worth reccommending, but aren't suitable for non vaginal use. Blow jobs, then.
Have fun people. ...

Advantages: practise the baby making without the worry Disadvantages: you got to get up to dispose of it afterwards
A LITTLE COMEDY HAS GONE INTO THIS
Okay hopefully im not the only lady to write a review on comdoms.
Durex (any type) are normally the best comdom on the market and the most expensive lol
Duribility and comfort of this product is excellent I feel that Fetherlite are by far the best comdom in my opinion
As a women I cant really comment on the man's pleasure but I feel that mine is not affected that much with this one and my partner asures me that althrough using a comdom is not as good as not on the pleasure scale that it is still very good in that subject
The smell is not too over powering (like your making love in a rubber factory) and these babies are strong enough to stand a heavy session of love making.
Im sorry if that was a little crude but we are all adults and lets be honest we all want the feeling without the worry ...
