Now I don't furtivly browse the condom counter in Boots looking over my shoulder to make sure the man from number 10 isn't looking as I grab a handful of condoms but these condoms did catch my eye not because of the snazzy packaging. Performa condoms are rather plainly and discretely packaged as are most condoms. What caught my eye was the claim that they were for " longer lasting pleasure" Now we could all with a bit of that couldn't we?

Durex claim that Performa will not only enhance love making but help prolong matters. Now before your thinking that this is because to put it delicately it's like "shagging wiv yer welly's on" and the male member of the duo will feel sod all due to it being a rather thick condom this is far from the case. Performa contains a mild local anesthetic, which helps to delay matters.

Performa as with all Durex condoms, is made from latex so heed the warning from my ribbed condom review please. It also carries the kite mark standard so you know it's going to do the job it's intended for. Each individual condom comes into own foil wrapper with an expiry date on - again fiddly to open especially when matters warm up a bit -but don't use your teeth as it's not only dangerous in the fact you could tear or weaken the condom the non spermicidal lubricant on the outside of the condom tastes foul! Definitely not a condom to show off your party trick of putting it on with your mouth! Well who wants a numb mouth?

On first glance, this creamy coloured condom looks very much like any other condom till you glance down to the teat and notice the white splodge of the benzocaine anesthetic cream. I'll admit I did do a double take and give out a huge ewwwww as it is rather reminiscent of a used condom. From a thickness point of view these condoms looked remarkably thin.

Durex designed Performa, to give a more comfortable and snugger fit.Apparently it is also easier to put on but is any condom easy to put on especially when thinks are getting decidedly frisky? Unlike other condoms in their range Performa is longer than average with a length of 205mm ( yes it will fit you and won't be too small!) The width of the condom varies unlike their other condoms which are a standard width all along the length. Performa is 56mm at the base, goes to 54mm half way down then reduces to 52mm and expands to 63mm at the top. Note to reader - I did not take these measurements myself, I was far too busy to whip the tape measure out at this stage. further details can be found on the durexweb site.The wearer half of the testing duo when asked if he felt they were snugger and more comfortable grunted something along the lines of "it's a condom what do you expect?"

Performa as previously stated work by containing a mild local anesthetic benzocaine, when I say mild it is mild. It works by numbing very slightly the male member.My partner in crime was slightly reluctant to actually test drive these condoms, visions of a trip to A&E with a numb willy or worse still being in an excited state for a few days flashed throw his head.

After promising to drive him to A&E and not snigger throw out his potential ordeal he agreed just this once, to try one of these condoms.

Getting down to the nitty gritty does it live up to the claim that it will prolong love making? Given that my tester was convinced he'd be the butt of all jokes in the local things didn't bode to well. With images of hospitalization and sniggering medical staff the condom was rolled into place it gains no points for ease of application being just as fiddly as any other condom. Did things go completely numb as the male tester feared? Was a question I asked afterwards. Apparently things felt slightly odd more a diminished feel of sensation but thankfully not totally numb as he'd feared! now your probably wondering did these lead to an all nighter of passion? Things did last longer, but this might have been due to the fact the male tester felt he had a need to prove he could be up and at it all night! On asking he summed up the whole thing as it was like someone kept moving the goal posts just as he got near they were moved again. It made for an interesting night is all I'm saying......

Performa, is available at most chemist and retails at around the £8 mark for a packet of 12. As with all condoms they will protect you from sexually transmitted diseases.
